OK, I admit it. I'm prejudiced. Not against people of color, whatever color they may be. My oldest son is adopted and is 100% Hispanic.

I'm prejudiced against people who commit crimes. People who shoot others. People who carjack others, do drive by shootings, smash and grab robberies, push drugs.

I'm damned sick and tired of reading about crime and hearing about crime. I'm tired of innocent victims losing their lives because some jack off thinks it would be a fun trick to just shoot his gun that he likely doesn't legally own without regard for who may get shot.

I'm also sick of pussy prosecutors who decide that these jack offs are not worthy of being in jail so they release them back onto the streets. Hell, we wouldn't want to interrupt their crime spree with a stint behind bars, would we.

Prejudiced? Me? You betchurass!

Right, he was in first place. So it's between him and the other guy. Who know where the other votes will go. But don't be surprised if they go to the defund the police guy.
Then, as with the last mayor, they deserve what they voted for.

How long before areas start to just accept street justice and full chaos is allowed if the defund guy gets in? How long are communities supposed to just accept friends and family falling victim to weak ass prosecutors and leaders.

I honestly think they don’t care. With concealed carry here, I would have thought there would be more defense incidents. But that doesn’t appear to be the case. I truly think they have become sheep and will just accept it. Heck a lot of them are still wearing masks outside.

Concealed carry in Chicago? I thought that was about the last place besides NYC you could carry a gun...

These are the reasons why we moved to another State. If you remember, we were only a few blocks away from all of the George Floyd action. Minneapolis/St Paul have gotten worse since then, with their policies like you mentioned. We couldn’t even park our cars in front of our home without risk of losing the catalytic converter…and we were in one of the best metropolitan areas. (Highest taxed no doubt)

Most importantly now is that my wife feels safe - especially seeing as I travel for a living. The main thing she’ll have to worry about is if the deer will eat the Hostas this Spring.

Good riddance.

Chicago’s handgun ban was overturned in 2010. IL concealed carry came effective 2013. So both are relatively new. I don’t think there are any gun stores or ranges inside the city limits so that may be effectively reducing concealed carry training.

Golfman, what level of training do you need to get a permit?
In IL you need to things. First is the FOID card, which allows you to purchase guns and ammo. That is just an application and background check. If you choose to carry, then you have 16 hours (2 classes) of training. Basically gun safety and the relevant laws, plus a live fire qualification where you must hit the target a certain number of times.

And if I am reading right, only for Illinois residents, correct? I cannot get one living in Wi.

Pittsburgh is getting pretty bad. Been ran by democrats for decades. 4 separate shootings yesterday with 3 dead. They were investigating one when another happened less than a mile away. Many that had been working from home are refusing to go back into the office for fear of how violent the city has got.
But the elected officials keep passing more gun laws

I’m moved from Illinois back to Florida. We’ll soon have Constitutional Carry.

Chalk another one up for a free state.
Missouri is a constitutional carry state, but I'm not a big fan. Just like boating, you end up with some dumbasses carrying that don't know anything about gun safety. I would like to know that the person I see carrying went through some minimum amount of training. But I would rather have constitutional carry than the Illinois or New York systems. I keep my concealed carry permit up to date. I have been pulled over in the past while carrying and it really helps to hand the officer my license and carry permit then explain that I have a loaded weapon on my person. It gives them a level of comfort that I have some safety training. That said, I have been shooting since I was a kid.

My BIL had his PA carry permit but let it lapse. He is reapplying while he still can.
