Post your boat's name

I bought my first boat with the money I saved while serving in Korea as an Army Lieutenant. Korea was then considered a "hardship" tour. So I named that brand spanking new '89 Supra Conbrio (5.8L Ford Windsor IB) "Hardship Tour". By 2002 I was married and had a son, and 19' of Inboard Ski Boat is just not enough for the cantankerous Potomac River. So we bought a 23' Supra IB (5.7 PCM Apex) and named it Glory Days--any time together as a family on the water is a glorious day. Then we got the 02 260DA and named her Liberty Belle for the freedom of being away from it all that the cruiser offered us. 02 320 DA next, "Truly Blessed"...we had a second healthy son, and the name captured our thankfulness for all we have. 03 420DA: Truly Blessed II. And if I even so much as look at a bigger boat I may as well name that one "Bachelor Pad"

We've got a 230 Sundancer and searched for some ideas for a name. I liked "Lil' Dancer" and posted on the SRO board for some other suggestions and someone - I believe it was you Dave - who knew of our other passion for fourwheeling adventures suggested "Offroad Dancer" since it made sense considering our other hobby. The admiral liked that one better than Lil' Dancer so "Offroad Dancer" it is.

Never Enough

As in, never enough time, never enough money, ect.... We let our kids name the last boat, "Play With Me" and this time it was mom and dads turn to pick the name. We were sitting at Chuckie Cheese (of all places) talking about things in general when my wife made the comment to one of the kids "it's never enough is it." I looked at her and said "that's it...that's the new boat name."

First. You guys have some great names, reasons and stories behind the passion for our hunks of Fiberglass, platic and glass

Well, ours is like the sig says - Nehalennia is the
"Celtic godess of the Seafarers"

It is represented by the Dolphin. My wife lost her mother when she was 17. Living in SoCal at the time her Father and Brother and scattered her ashes on their journey to Catalina for her wake aboard a 36 Trojan. My wife says that as the Sunset and the ashes were sprinkled into the water Dolphins greeted their boat and since then the Dolphins and water hold a special place.

When we met I was recently divorced and pationate for boating we were dating at a waterside restaurant. While waiting for our table we walked through the Marina shop and found a Necklace decorated with Dolphins in a Ying and Yang pattern. Ironically my wife had a Dolphin tatoo on her ankel with a similar pattern.

That was it...both magnetically attracted to the water and both feeling akin to the Dolphins & Nehalennia's mythological presence we thought it to be a perfect name for my 1995 220OV I owned at the time.
Hence our Second boat; my third is Named Nehalennia II

We chose ours to be "Entertaining Angels" we are influenced by both our beliefs and for any that understand the good book speaks of being careful about how you treat people as they may be Angels. Another words be nice to everyone, so everyone is always welcome aboard.

soon to be former boat is "OUI CHERI" as I found myself often saying the words in English after I got it...."Yes Dear" and yes I finally did get busted lol

Current boat, Julia Rose, my first Grand child, 5 months old now...

When asked what he thought of Long Island Sound after growing up on the Mississippi, Mark Twain said, "It's like the world's biggest bathtub with everyone's rubber ducky in it."

We boat in Long Island Sound.

So, our first boat was "Rubber Duckee", the second was "Rubber Duckee Too", now a 370DA with a dinghy which was supposed to be "Rubber Duckling" (the dinghy) and "Rubber Duckee Too 2 (as in squared), but instead now just "Rubber Duckee"

Our 280 is "La Dolce Vita"; word for word "The Sweet Life". I had a favorite gelato store when I lived in South America and always liked the way it sounded, there was also a saying, you are living la dolce vita;whenever people noticed you were doing well.
When we purchased the boat we kept brainstorming day in a and day out, trying to figure a name, then we were in our family room and we happen to have one of those olden day theatre type posters and it happend to be from the movie 'La Dolce Vita' the rest is history. I have 3 names already lined up for every 6 footitis remedy that we will purchase thru the years. :smt101

Sea-esta. Just a comical version of Siesta. The sun and salt air make it easy to take an afternoon nap on the boat.

I did 22 years in the United States Navy hense the name Liberty Call. She keeps calling our name! It looks great on the back of the 230 Sundancer!

Scott
'93 230 Sundancer
"Liberty Call"

Lil is the short form of the admiral's name (Lillian). Krissy is my daughter's name (Kristen). her affectionate name for the family has always been Little Krissy, b/c she was born 5 weeks early and even at 9 years old, she's still only in the 25th precentile on the growth charts. sort of a play on words involving the two girls in my life.

We did do this before but always love to see what all the great names are and where they came from. Our boat is "Bright Ayes", the name is arched upward and just below it is a pair of woman's eyes with large hearts as their pupils and below that instead of a hailing port I put a spanish phrase "Usted Tiene Mi Corazon!" which means in english, "You Have My Heart". My wife's nickname since we met is "Bright Eyes" because that is what I see when I look into them and by chance we found the graphic with the hearts to express my love for her and hence the spanish phrase since we are both of latin decent and as we all know, latins are very romantic!!

OK, I'll bite. First named boat (290DA) was Blissfully Unaware, after a saying in a Sponge Bob cartoon, which was all we could ever watch at that time. We liked it, because we were Blissfully Unaware of the rest of the world when we on it.

Then, we went to Three Wishes (380DA). We have 3 kids, and it was beyond our wildest dreams (a wish) to get a boat like that.

Now, we have Jackets Required. We wanted to do something Georgia Tech related, because my wife and I met there, we're both alums, and the kids have gotten into it. Kind of a spoof on words of the idea that we have a "yacht" also. Friends who we were telling about the baot were telling us we had a "yacht" and would be "yachting people", meaning stuck up to them. So, being the casual slacker I am, the name is a sort of Caddyshack play on words.

Dog Gone Squid

My son and his wife were in the Navy (squids). I was a Marine (devil dogs) Daughter-in -law suggested a tribute to both. Both of the kids were corpsmen, attached to the corps

Mike,
She is a beauty, despite the ramblin wreck homage. But where is your juvenile diesel engine esprit in your profile?

I am saddened by this oversight.

GO DAWGS!

Took a lot of thought...kept coming up with different names...but went with:

Cuttin' Edge

I make hardened cutting products (and related stuff) - so a little work related...and somewhat boating related (if I was a sailor!)...
