I think we did this before on SRO but at any rate it's probably time to do it again because we have many new members and boats now and it is always fun to hear the reasons people have for picking a name. So what did you name your boat and what is the meaning behind the name?

We just came up with a name for our boat and are having decals printed up now. Since my wife and I both enjoy the water so much and consider it "therapy" to be out on the water we knew it had to be themed along those lines.

So we will be calling our boat Aqua Therapy

IMPULSE III Almost self explanatory :smt043

Not a whole lot of planning went into the original Impulse.....almost a "lets do this".. Glad we did!!!!

Festivus
1) Latin for festival
2) A made up holiday, first "invented" by a Reader's Digest editor in 1966, but popularized in the 1990's TV show "Seinfeld"

We (my wife and I) like it because we're a pretty festive bunch, plus we wanted a name the had some refernce to family and freinds, thus the "us" part of Festivus.

And of course, every day on the boat is like a made up holiday!

And yes, we are big Seinfeld fans! For those of you who are familiar with the episode, you know what we named the dinghy... "The Rest Of Us"

Captain Morgan

Bought the boat already named... however we all like the name.

BON DIA

Means "Good Day" or "Have a Good Day" in Papiamentu, the local language of the islands of Bonaire & Curacao, NA. Both are favorite dive destinations of ours & our general feeling anytime we're on &/or in the water.

Boat Names

Well,

Thought hard and long on this one.

We named our boat "Pili Lani" Hawaiian for Close to Heaven

Cause when we are on the water we feel as close to heaven as we can get

LEGACY - Named in honor of who I got my real boating education from; My dad, he passed away in a scuba diving accident and never got to see his son with the bigger boats, we raced sailboats together and cruised on powerboats, sailboats, small dignys, etc. He was only 51 when he died and I miss him every day!

"ONE MORE TOY " was the name when I bought it....I like it so I kept it.[/b]

First Born

This is our first boat which we purchased in Feb 2006. Our parents were giving us a hard time about wanting to be grandparents; so we went and bought our First Born. Lets just say the mother-in-law was not happy with me for a while.

Wes, maybe if you let her take the "First Born" for the weekend, she won't be upset anymore... :smt043

We named our boat "Serenity Now!" for a few reasons...the first was the admiral saying we should name our first boat "serenity" because of the serene feeling we got when we were on the boat. Me being a perenial jokester and a huge Seinfeld fan came up with "Serenity Now". Since she doesnt share the love of that show with me, she didnt quite understand the humor in it but liked the name just the same. I found humor in the name because we'd have 'serenity' now and we'd be back to "insanity later'. I order the boat name and everywhere i go, Seinfeld fans get a good laugh and stop by to chat with me. A friend of mine at the marina really wants to named his boat "Insanity Later!" and get the slip right next to mine.

My first wife and I loved to boat, and we bought our first house, a small bungalow, on a lagoon lot. We called the two boats that we bought together "New Attitude"......she loved to dance. My wife got very sick and passed away on Christmas Eve in 1995.

I was Fortunate to meet a lovely woman, Linda, who I married two years later. Her husband had also passed away less than a month before my wife. She had a little girl at the time.

We are now togehter almost 10 years and our daughter is now 20 and in college.

When we became a new family, we named our first boat together, One Sweet Day, from the song by Mariah Carey and Boyz to men. I'm no real fan of either artist, but that song came out just weeks after my wife passed and the words are just right. Basically.... One Sweet Day we will all be together again.....

Seeing I sell beer for a living I was going to call it "only beer money" but the wife and kids didn't quite like it. My wife and I like warmer, tropical wheather & going to The Keys camping (thats why we live in Wisconsin, doesn't make sense) so we wanted something fun and warm sounding. My son(14.5yrs) came up with Kilbourn Tropics because I am also a member of the Kilbourn Volunteer Fire Dept. My daughter(16.5yrs and with a fresh drivers liscense and car) came up with Daddy's Little Dingy. I didn't like that one. So we came up with Going Coconuts. Go back to the ages of the kids but fun also.

Several years ago I took my family of 5 to Scotland for a “discover your roots†trip. Fantastic time enjoyed by all, but since they would not let us move into the family castle, we came home. With this boat we all wanted a name from the old country but couldn’t find just the right phrase. After what seemed like an exhausting search, somehow we ended up with Scots n’ Water. Also, the small Scottish flag we have matches the boat's colors.

Temptation

Needs no explanation.

Previous boat was named Sha-La-La....which always needed an explanation. I got tired of explaining that it came from the song by the Grass Roots called Live For Today.
