Port engine dies on turn

One more thing, the clear tube that runs from the mechanical fuel pump to the carburetor was removed from the fuel pump end to re-route it and noticed the nipple on the fuel pump where the tube connects was packed with dirt or something. Tried to clean it out with a pipe cleaner but it is really packed in there. Afraid of puncturing the diaphram if i stick anything sharp in there. Any suggestions on how to clean it out without taking the raw water pump off.

That tube fitting doesn't point toward the diaphram, it is little above it. Can use a phillips screwdriver with a dull point on it that fits in tube. Just don't go much deeper than than the fitting and don't crazy with it

I’ve used some CRC or WD40 with the red tube for concentrated spraying (cleaning/flushing), also.

Update: Still looking for the purple wire for the electric choke for my new Edelbrock carb. Anybody know where I can get 12vdc for my choke. New Carb is running smooth with no load. Haven't been able to get here out under load yet.
Want to get my choke hooked up first.

update: Found 12vdc at the oil pressure switch, connected the electric choke and got 12vdc to the choke. Only problem with connecting to the switch is my oil pressure light stays on on the system monitor, same with the water temperature switch. Back to the hunt for switched 12vdc. Would go the the purple wire on the alternator but not nimble enough to get down that low in the bilge.

If I remember I took the 12v off of the positive terminal of the starter solenoid.

That would work constan key on power

Had a set back. Friday she was running smooth, good idle, 750rpm at idle, no stall or misses, figured the idle adjust and choke hook up did the trick. shut it off and restarted several time with no problems. Saturday went down to take her out for a test run. Had a hell of a time starting it, and when it did start it ran like crap; popping, sputtering, stalling, vibrating, surging. Would smooth out a bit when I ran it up to 1200-1500 RPM. Was ready to put the old Carter back on but NAPA did not have a manifold gasket. Will put the old carter on when I get a gasket and see if I get the same issues. Thanks for the tip on using the starter for my 12vdc choke power. Much easier to get to.
