Pointing a Gun at Police Might Get You Killed

First of all I don't live in the socialist state of New Jersey. Having said that, you can be 100 present certain my hands would be high in the air if the police break in to my house at 2 am. Only a fool would pull a gun on the police....EVER! Absolutely no doubt about it!

Oh, and if I get pulled over..... I do exactly what I'm told to do by the police.

How many of us sleep with a loaded handgun in our hand? Why did this kid have a gun while he was sleeping? Who does that?

Your profile says New Jersey. You are completely missing the point. Bad guys can yell police when they break in! At 2am and you're being blinded by weapon mounted lights, HOW DO YOU KNOW IT'S THE POLICE?!

I'm not involved in anything that would require the police to be in my house at 2am, unannounced. Anyone breaking into my house will be dealt with accordingly. That said, I rarely sleep on the couch and my cameras would announce their presence before they got to my door.

With two brothers that are officers, I have much respect and appreciation for LEOs... almost went down that road myself (still have my acceptance letter to the academy).

It's not often I get pulled over, but if I do it's both hands on the wheel, cabin light on and window down.... about the only thing as dangerous as a no knock warrant is a traffic stop...

Many people have quick access safes by their bed.... even though this kid wasn't who they were looking for, it's likely he was involved in not so legal activities (with the gun in hand while sleeping).

"Bad guys can yell police when they break in......" Take a minute and think about that statement. I really don't think I need to elaborate any further.

I thought I heard it was a legal firearm purchase. Not sure if he was a bad guy or not, but that doesn’t matter in this case. As others mentioned, I’ll save my rioting and looting a Target store until after a verdict is made. :(
Meanwhile, Minneapolis and St Paul Public schools will be allowing students to go and protest this today.

Yes, you'll comply and be shot dead in your home by a bad guy. No one has keys to my house.... so they'd be breaking in regardless of a bad guy or police.... and at 2am I'm not checking IDs...

But hey, to each their own...

A quick access safe is one thing. Still going to take you a min to arm yourself and then go check out the noise downstairs. This kid had the gun with him on the couch, possibly in his hand. Was he expecting something?

Most likely. But the world will never know...

Where he lives in Minneapolis, there is always something. People in that area spend a lot of time in their tubs because of shootings.

There have been multiple cases where cops shot a guy in his own home after a no knock warrant was served at the wrong address.

It can be very hard to find addresses in the city, especially at night…

Dogs folks. My dogs alert when a squirrel across the street farts.
They alert in different ways and you can tell if they’re alerting aggressive ie trespasser.

Then pull out the shotgun.

Ya, a good dog...my last one always knew what was going on, it was his thing. You'd have to identify yourself before entering the house, his name was Gus...Hey Gus it's me. Once he heard a voice he knew all was cool...otherwise he would wanna eat you.:)
