According to the news, Seatac isn't as much closed as several of the airlines just don't have enough aircraft deicer on hand... They didn't plan for the need to last this long.
As for global warming, some of the hard core will say that a more severe winter is a sign of global warming as global warming is more about extra energy in the system that needs to be balanced. That's supposed to mean that all storms are more severe and extreme... Hence more snow and cold in the dead of winter. My main beef with the global warming crowd is that they assume the external energy into the system is a constant and if someone with a brain were to look at the solar output they'd find that the sun is not a constant source of energy. I haven't looked at the raw data, but a friend that has said we've been on an increase that last couple of decades. That's right, the huge nuclear reactor 93,000,000 miles away that runs on gravity contracts and expands changing it's output... just a little... but enough to screw with our weather.
