- twin 5.0's w/BIII drives
Hey CSR team, I’m looking for help with this one.
Issue: all was working as normal. I trimmed up the drives then full trailer-up then walked the boat into a shallow sandy area.
We left and we were able to lower the drives as normal but noticed right away we could not trim back up.
We cannot trim up either drive with the button on the throttle nor with the dedicated ‘trailer’ switch that will bring the drives up the balance of the way.
I can press either trim-down button and clearly hear the sound of the drive trying to go down as normal. When I press trim-up I hear nothing as if the drive was up to its trim limit. Also when I press the trailer trim-up button I hear nothing.
We have twin 5.0’s with twin BIII drives. Each drive has its own pump. I know from the past they are separate circuits. I had a battery switch off and one of the drives did not work one other time. As soon as I turned the other battery on the other drive worked.
The only thing I could think of being common to both systems is the trailer switch. I removed the throttle compartment at the helm, pulled out the trailer switch, cut the wires to this single trailer switch yet it made no difference. None of these wires are getting power. No combination of shorting these three wires does anything.
I looked at the only three locations that I know to look for a popped breaker, the forward EIM at the helm, rear EIM in the engine compartment by the batteries as well as the breaker panel by the battery switches. Nothing is popped in these three locations. Also, nothing is labeled as if it’s for the drive trim.
The engines start and run fine. We boated back to our marina 30+ miles. I tried the trim-up and trailer trim button 100+ more times, they just are not doing anything.
I am assuming there is a separate super secret location of a breaker or fuse or relay for the drive trim-up but I don’t know where to look.
Anyone have a suggestion as to what is going on? What do I check next?
