A few weeks ago my son asked if he could have a few friends down for the weekend before everybody heads back to school so I said that was fine. He tells me 4-5. So I ask a couple weeks ago who is coming. he tells me 3 former roommates, 2 current roommates and 5 from our home town. Soooo, I say, in Purdue math, that adds up to 10+him=11...which is not 4-5. Well of course he couldn't invite so and so without inviting so and so, and such and such, etc... Nevertheless, 10 show up Saturday morning (1 dropped out Friday) for a day on the water. I think they had a pretty good time, judging by all the goofieness. A lot of jet skiing, tubing, and atleast 2,000 selfies. Although I had plenty of pillows to go around, they rented a small cottage Friday and Saturday night which worked out great.

Side note, some may remember my "son told me he is getting a tattoo" post a couple years ago. The 3 girls (aka t-r-o-u-b-l-e) in front to the left are the instigators and all have matching tats plus a couple more here and there. My son (tall one in back) did get an modest anchor on his rib cage. This is the first time I'd seen them up close. not my thing but all are in good taste I guess.

BTW, he and one of the girls showed up at the boat a couple hours before the rest and washed/cleaned the boat top to bottom which was awesome. All will be back to school this weekend. sigh.

Nice! I took our son and three girls from his college swim team out on our CV-23 for a day of tubing and skiing. The scenery was great and they had fun. Modesty is not the norm these days either, Mike.

Well, you had your son with you and his friends. Not what you were expecting but they were there. Count your blessings.

I’m not a perfect parent and am WAYYYYYY more conservative than anyone else in my family. But I have learned to live with and accept our young generation, much as my parents accepted me, my music, motorcycles, friends and everything else I did as a teenager and young (foolish) man. My dad probably thought I was the anti-Christ! But all my friends knew my parents, and now my home and boat is where my kids hang out. I like that, I know who they are with. They are good kids, and they don’t get into trouble.

I’m not saying I agree with my sons (close to your sons age) generation of inmodesty, hair color and tats, and gosh knows what else. But I accept that my sons (and it seems like your son too) upbringing will guide him, much as my parents upbringing of me did, and will keep him safe and making the right choices in life with the occasional exuberance of youth.

Matt

I’m glad you shared the photos, and that your son was comfortable to have all his friends there with you, that is a compliment by him!

The scenery was great

I walked that fine line all day. whew. They're all pretty cool kids and Facebook was lit up with pics which I thought was pretty cool too. funny story, his friends think his mom is pretty hot so I had to explain the term MILF to her the other night. brought back some memories of my younger days I must admit. anyway, all in fun and good taste.

Only thing missing are a few palm trees, emerald green water and sandy beaches………………I'm just saying'

Now you know if I was down there it would be 40 degrees, blowing at 30 knots and raining. PCB, Seattle and the Amazon seem to have a lot in common.

That's a great testament to your parenting! Great looking bunch. Youngsters don't bring their friends around folk they are not comfortable with. We always encouraged ours to bring their friends around too, liked to know who they mixed with. Agree with you on the tats, we see a few older women with them (on their legs and upper arms) and when they get into their 60's, they generally look just awful.

As has been said, all a testament to and a reflection of quality parenting! Nice job! It is now that you begin to see the fruits of years of work as a parent - and you can sit back and know that it was all worth it.

Looks like fun..,..like I always say, "Youth is wasted on the Young"!

I was in Destin this past weekend and saw some of the Emerald Coast Poker Run participants from A.J.'s.

My sons and their friends like to come out on the boat too, it's a proud feeling too!!! Their friends call me "Pops" or "Hip Hop Pops".

Only problem is that my older son has too many friends and I only like to go out with no more than 10 people on my boat and we have to do it strategically so feelings don't get hurt. I find that people that gel well together generally have a fabulous time while out on the water. Lil Bruce is 24 and just bought his first house, so they all hang out by him. Justin is only 19 and still trying to find his way and find true friends.

Sorry but I think I got you beat.... Last summer with a bunch of high school graduates......the one on top, yea he's mine.....this year I'm getting good use out of him, waxed the top side 3 times already....it's all good....

Looks like a lot of fun was had by all for both of you. The boy to girl ratios seem a little off for my taste. Lol

Tim glad you had pillows for all.

Well Mike, I could have the entire junior class at Indiana University and still have pillows to spare.

That's awesome but seeing 6 standing on the brow would have given me a stroke.

Looks like everyone on both boats was having fun.....that's what this great lifestyle is all about.

couldn't agree more.

Agreed! That and a bunch of them on the hardtop and jumping off, including the girls...then getting out of the water and running up the stairs soaking wet to do it again....But thankfully they are built "Searay tough".....There were a lot of things that day that I had to turn a blind eye and say they're having a ball and that's what it's all about......and I see you have the same philosophy...... Cheers!

Lol

My wife and I refer to that as the "P to V " ratio. Where (over 18yo) P is less than or equal to (over 18 yo) V. You can do the math...
