Was returning from a Lake Union Sea Ray rendezvous yesterday and we came upon a fairly large pod of orca having a little play time off of False Bay. We watched them put on a show for about 30mins and then made way for Seattle. Quite a spectacle and sharing a seemingly crappy photo of a jump but no pic can do it justice in reality.

Cool pic. I was at Roche Harbor until Thursday morning.
I was tied up next to the salesman, believe his name was Steve.
He invited me to join but we had plans already.
LOT'S of Sea Rays, pretty cool.

That's the rendezvous! Was a great weekend. We had just gotten into Roche on Friday. Made way up to Deer Harbor via Deception pass on Wednesday late afternoon and took a beating like never before exiting Deception with a full Ebb tide and 20 knot sustained Westerly wind that had been blowing all damn day...those two conflicting forces created standing water like I haven't seen before. Stress tested the boat and passengers as well.

Our return trip was uneventful until we saw the orca playgrounds.

I heard a couple of people talking about that, and the salesman said something about that.
Doesn't sound like fun.

Wyrman or Tman, did you happen to see a 268 Dancer, green and tan, named Quantum Splash? It's from the Tri Cities, was just completely refurbed to new condition and they took it to the Rendevous.

I didn't see that vessel either or recall seeing it...may have met the owners though since we met many folks attending.

We're still at Roche Harbor post Sea Ray rendezvous. We saw that boat - my wife couldn't take her eyes off it. She had an older Sea Ray in a previous life and that one brought bavck the memories. It's a sweet boat.

Tom:
where is False Bay? We will be leaving Roche on Wednesday heading to Friday Hatbor and are seeking whales. I know a number of boaters at the Sea Ray Rendevous saw whales on their way in.

Found it. We're going to go south down the west side of San Juan Island and the up to Friday Harbor - hope to see whales on the way

Guys - was the rendezvous organised by sea ray?
We were almost on the way to Roche this last weekend coincidentally but ended up going to Salt Spring Island, great weekend but we would have headed down to Roche if I had realized there was a meet. Did not hear anything from the Vancouver dealer M and P.

The Sea Ray Rendevous is an annual event in July, always at Roche Harbor. It is sponsored by Lake Union Sea Ray - they have locations in Seattle, Fife and Bellingham. Info on all of their events is on their website. We bought our boat from LUSR so are on their email list. The "salesman" referenced in this thread is Steve Thoresen - seems like everyone we know with a Sea Ray bought their boat from Steve, including us.

Good luck Larry. We've often seen them just outside of false bay....not really sure why but that seems to be a hot bed of activity for them..maybe salmon supply??

I see you are out of Elliott Bay Marina...we are as well, on C dock.

Dave .... We might have run into you at last year's rendezvous sponsored by M&P up in Poet's Cove?

We're at E36. Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet - too many boats, too many people! I'll look for you at EBM.
