I hope this is the right place for these questions. I have a an Onan 6.5 KW generator on the boat. When I bought it 4 years ago, the surveyor tested the gen and it was fine. When the boat was shipped to my marina, I winterized the genset, changed the oil, and fogged the genset. Well now I have the major repair items out of the way and started to work on the genset. IT would be nice, but not needed to have a working genset for me. I just like getting things to work right.
Thanks for your help.
- I went today to pull the impeller out and of course there is always that one screw that is a PIA. I pulled 3 out of the 4 screws without any problems. This is more of a reach issue than the screw frozen. Is it better to take the fly wheel cover off, then undo the pulley to get the cap off the impeller? I left it all attached and tried that way.
- At first I could not find the spark plugs but then realized that there is a different boot to the plug from the standard rubber boot. It seems that the wires go through what seems to be a metal cover over the wire and the spark plug. Is there a special way to remove the plug?
Thanks for your help.
