OMG I wasn't barnacles.

Would your insurance have covered the damage? Not sure if you have, but it looks like some pricey repairs. Hopefully your dock neighbors don't have a similar issue. If the stray current was coming from your boat they may want to talk to you and your insurance company.

This type of problem is "excluded" from my insurance and probably most. When's the last time you read the fine print! As far as people wanting to talk to me? As far as I'm concerned the voltage didn't come from me and good luck proving it. To be honest my boat is well maintained and the cause of this corrosion is TBD.

Boy you arent wasting any time ! Lookin good. Rock on !

I have no time to waste. Memorial Day is coming! Work is getting in the way of fixing my boat! Kids drive yourself to swimming and dance lessons!

I am searching for pics right now, but we had a 30-ft Trojan at a marina near us go through something similar. It belonged to a friend of mine for 3 years and was always in great shape. He sold it to a guy who did some electrical modifications and resold it quickly. Within 1 MONTH, the struts were gone... (yes, as in GONE), the props were just hubs and the rudders were less then 3 sq-inches each. He was an amatuer boater and all he knew was there was a serious vibration and no performance.... The pics are real scary...... This all too place in a month.....

They were able to get hold of whoever it is who bought Trojan and they sent a rep out. They actually replaced all the running gear for him for very little. Trojan has not been in business for years, but there is still a small faction out there that belongs to another company.

Never heard of what caused it, but the middle-owner stated he only installed a fish-finder......

Great job! Replace those old rubber Seacocks with updates SS ball type. I replaced all of them in my tub. Your issue has made me go back and look at my ground wire blocks, which are also corroded. I am also running additional wires to the genny seacock and a spare one I have on the stbd side.

Great post and pics!

Galvanic Bonding wire terminals, gang blocks all corroded, rusted Big Probable cause, Second lack of frequent anode maintenance, stray current stray current some where?

Adios' bronze

Not to be a wet blanket, but the photo's of the engines indicate that the risers maybe seriosly corroded and are leaking. I'd poke around in there for sure.

I don't follow you. Risers are typical for area and age and were filled with pink antifreeze since november. No sure what the conductivity of that stuff is.

It's obvious what has to be fixed. Members have recommended what may be out of sight and mind.

One member may have hit the nail on the head. Time for a new marina. I cannot say if that is the correct answer, however, completely disconnecting yourself from marina power then doing a stray current check may save you a lot of effort.

I need to get the boat back in the water and I without a doubt will be checking the dock shore power.

I had problems years ago with our old boat, turned out a derilect sailboat with a faulty power system was "heating" the water in the marina causing me and the boat on his opposite side to burn off our zincs. I started using one of those zinc 'fish', basically a six pound zinc block hanging over the side and clipped onto the engine block, gave great protection from stray current and extended the life of my hard to reach OD zincs.
