I am making great progress on my winter projects. Last weekend I did get the headliner up in the galley. I was not happy about the seam and all week was thinking about it and figured out how to fix it. The problem was the foam was not removed enough when I did the overlap on the seam, so today I took the seam a part just before the Admiral showed up to inspect. At the same time, one of my boating buddies showed up with some molding to put over the seam. So I need some opinions from the great site! The picture below was how the seam first looked:

You can see the bumps all the way across. While it did not look bad, I knew my Admiral all to well. So when I went down today I re-worked the seam below.

Now you can just about see the seam and looks really good. At least I was happy with it. Below is what she wants to do.

The trim needs to be stained & finished, but I can screw this into place and it would give it that finished look. What do you think?

I'd prefer it without the moulding. But, if I were to use that strip, I might think about covering it in the headliner material. With the screw heads flush, you should be able to wrap the headliner around the strip (after it's in place) by pushing the edges of the headliner between the strip and the ceiling with a putty knife.

I like the strip personally..got one in mine just like itJust not as long

I like the open look of the seam but the wood trim wouldn't be bad either. I have a polished ss piece in mine.

The Admiral is going to wait on it until I have the inside back together. People who saw the seam the first time and came back to see it after I reworked the seam could not believe the difference. I also have the Admiral sanding all the molding I took down so I can coat it with MinWax stain and poly that is real close to the original stain. I do not care one way or the other, I just do not want to do more work. Tomorrow night I am going to update project site. Today I was on the front deck sanding down the patch that I put in where the horns and 6 holes that was patch sometime in the past. Drilled a new hole for the horn wires, then shot gelcoat on the surface. So next weekend I should be done with the interior. Next the bow rails.
