Oil Filter removal tools

I keep a roll of 2” wide skateboard tape on-hand for this problem. I clean the filter with some acetone, put a single strand of skateboard tape near the outer end to keep from collapsing the center, and use the strap like a pissed-off Silverback!

I use Channellock oil filter wrench as well:

Am I the only one here who has confused right-tight with left-loose because the filter is upside-down? I just did mine yesterday and had to constantly conjure up the right mental image to make sure I was going in the right direction. I have certainly in the past tightened a filter I was trying to take off, then had a hell of a time getting it loose again.

Been there... Done that...
I also use a version of those pliers.

I "always" give a visual with my right thumb to confirm rotation direction before starting. It's a habit now! The Right Hand Rule.

Working on a boat, this is a frequent mental exercise. Anything you’re threading is never straight up. And neither are you!

I've used this. Over the years I've had some filters that were impossible to spin by hand and in a heck of a location so this let me put some extensions on it and weave them through the labyrinth of pipes to get at an impossibly stuck filter, then use a 1/2" breaker bar to apply a lot of torque.

Have used this one for twenty plus years never had a filter i couldnt get loose
