I am so glad I found this thread! I have recently bought a 1989 Sea Ray 200 Cuddy (very similar to the one in Peter's post except mine is red). I am still learning how to post pictures, but this is a big help. I did not even know the boat was called a 200 Cuddy until now because it did not come with the manual and the previous owner was not sure. My compass does not work any longer...anybody know where to get a replacement?

I also have the 4.3ltr v6 and the Mercruiser outdrive. (Alpha One I believe). I like the boat so far, but I wish the seats would be back away from the steering wheel about 2-3 more inches. I am a big guy and it hits my legs in the middle of my calf.

What speeds should this boat cruise at? I have a 21" prop on her, because that is what it came with. What is the top speed?

1989 Sea Ray 200 here. Will post some pics when I get to my home PC. Just find this site by accident and wanted to say hey to fellow owners.

Hi folks

Looking for some advice here. I'm running my 200 OV with a 19" standard alloy prop, reving to 4900 and getting 42mph. I tried a 21 alloy on it and the revs dropped to 4700 which I felt was near perfect, but the top end speed also dropped to 36 mph !! I know the 21" is a "rebuild" and I suspect it's not "true". Is anyone using a stainless Mercruiser three blade 21" as I'm contemplating buying one but not if it's going to cost both top end and acceleration.
The engine is a 4.3 LX with an Alpha 1 Gen1 drive....:smt100

Well I have a vengeance SS merc part no 48-16316 and I can pull 39-43 with my 4.3 depending on all the variables. I would venture to say the your difference is due to the extra size and the pitch is different between the two props.

I got a used on on eBay for $80 and $15

Looks like I'm not alone with the 89 200 cuddy I just got last week. Splashed it once to just make sure it ran good, which it did. So now I'm on to the real repairs. So far got the seats out, gas tank out, and half the floor. :smt021 Hopefully if it dries out by the weekend I can start with the stringer replacement early next week. Are we all this much gluttons for punishment:lol:

I have a 1992 200 OV 175 HP I am running a 13.75x21 alum and I just ran 42.7mph at 4400 RPM with a terriably chewed up prop I mean real bad I am getting ready to put on a 14.25x21 alum thou

Thanks guys.

I,ve put a 21" Vengence SS prop now and getting 42.8 mph (GPS) at 4700. Just about perfect. Lost a bit of "hole shot" but still resonable. Might have been better with a Laser II (vented) but you can't be to fussy on the second hand market.

Hello I am new to the forum and I am trying to get some ideas for my 200 Select. I have a 2004 Select with the 350 magnum engine (300 hp) and Alpha Drive. Wide open I am running 5000 RPM's with a 3 blade 19 pitch prop. With only two people on the boat and a half a tank of gas I can do 50 mph. Does anyone have any ideas what I could do to get 60+ out of this boat? I am open to any ideas for a different prop to engine work. Thanks

Hey Everyone, I finally purchased a 1989 SeaRay 200BR. It needs a little cosmetic work but runs great. The wife and kids love it. Great for a good day at the lake. Trailering back and forth about 20-30 minutes to the Smith Mountain Lake in Va. Need to fix a few soft spots in the floor, and the the engine cover, rear cover, plan to replace carpet and reupholster a few seats. I will post more pictures as I make progress. Does anyone have suggestions about anything in particular I should watch out for? I would like to find a "camping cover" which we could stay out for the night on the lake, any good links where I could find one?

kshortjr NICE PURCHASE! Welcome to the family, looks like your family is going to love it!

Ok, I might as well join in. We purchased our 1993 200BR late last fall and only had it out for 3 short rides before things froze up here in Minnesota. The last time it was snowing. Still have about a month before lakes turn liquid again. We can't wait.

We've owned our BR200 since 1997 but it's been in the household since 1995 when my roommate bought it. The wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed it!

I was looking forward to putting it on the water the other day. It was sunny and 75 degrees.

Today it's 35 and windy. Ugh! I want my global warming back..NOW!

I will join in, I have a 1989 200CC. We have had it for 4 years. It had 400 hrs. when we bought her. The 200 is great big enough for fun and small enough to take on different water!! The kids love the cuddy until they start to get green!!! Sorry no pics though. I will try to find some.
