It easily hit 5800 rpm, meaning that I still had a little bit of throttle left. I don't want to worry about hitting the rev limiter because I'm under propped.

Oh, OK. I didn't realize from your first post that you had throttle left.

But, next season, after you have a few more hours on it (I would do that first, before making any changes), go ahead and go WOT - see what you get. You won't hurt anything by hitting the rev limiter for a short test. But that will give you some better data to then make a better decision on.
