Can't tell from the pic what happened to the turbo? The blades look pretty good in the pic

Blades are great but the exhaust blades were rubbing one the back side of the exhaust housing. It spun really fine until I took the hot side off then the damage was reviled.

Now get the the port tranny sorted out and we are once agin off the islands. This getting broke in strange ports is not what I had in mind when I planned out this bucket list cruse.

Got my turbo in and I'm ready to roll. Now what did I learn? Well for one thing that Cat turbos are not made by Catapiler; they are made by Garret. Just as good but that's the deal, cat turbos no matter where they were born are not cheap nor easy to come by. Got some suppliers telling me weeks to get the part in hand. But I digress, got the part and the guys and I'm ready to roll.
As for the tranny issue, it's not going into gear, it boiled down to a corroded wire on the terminal controller. Once agin a, anything todo with a Twin Disk tranny is going to mean money and time.
So in the am I'm off for Marathon, then up the Florida east coast. Just hope the little boat issues have run their course.

Where are the duck bill valves located for the starboard toilet? Not sure if that’s the problem but it doesn’t want to flush. Can’t hear any vacuum and the water barely drains from the tank. Thanks

They will be in the vacuum generator on the starboard shelf in the engine compartment.

when you flush the vaccine is reduced and the vaccine generator dose it’s thing. Go to the dc load meter on your 24 volt distribution panel and watch the needle osculate. If it’s just moving 5 points then you can bet there is a clog in the line. If it moves 5 to10 plus and laboring under the load then it’s doing it’s job. Clog might be dissolvable paper that hasn’t been solved or just waste that’s accumulated. Just good old plunger work can get things loosened up. Just don’t get too carried away because you can pull those duck bills in reverse; facing wrong way. Just enough plunger suction to loosen debris and let the suction of the generator do it’s job. Also try flushing some vinegar. That’s a natural acid that works wonders on dissolving waste and paper. Also make sure your holding tank is less than 1/2 full; empty would be better.

Thank you! I’ll give that a try. I just emptied the waste tank last weekend so that is good. I wasn’t sure if the pump had gone bad because there was no vacuum when I flushed. Hoping it’s just a clog somewhere..

the load meter on the dc panel really tells you a lot. When the pump really starts pulling you’ll see the difference; youu can hear it as well. Of course this presupposes the duck bills are good and the rest of the system is vacuumed tight.

Wow team. I'm not getting email notifications on reply's again. I just thought everyone was out for boating season. Sorry I've missed all the action. Keep up the chatter. It's so helpful. Through collective thinking, lets get the TCO of these beautiful boats way down. Love the ideas...

Man hate it you’re thinkin no one is addining tall takes and assorted bs. I’m holding back so I can write a well thought out dialog in my first trip to the Bahamas. So far I’ve spent equal time looking at the magnificent surroundings and fixing stuff. All kinds of stuff; some major, show stopping stuff, some just plain ass aggravating stuff

I’m in Chub Cay planing my return. Kind of missed my Bimini Fling meeting on 17June. Blew the starboard turbo and got towed to Marco Island. Reminds me; got a great guy that dose musicals sourcing parts and getting you back on the water any where in south Florida.

Well… I guess you did good since you made it to Chub? Hope you enjoyed it as it is a great place. You headed back to the keys next or staying in Chub for awhile?

was headed to Miami but lost the port motor 25 miles south of Bimini. Chugged into Bimini on one; what a fun 3 hours. Turned out to be a failed Racor gasket. Sucked air into the fuel system and that was pretty much it.

Wow.. well at least it was a simple fix. Now you have to consider this storm coming.

got my ass Biscane Bay and headed south
Have to see how this storm messes my ass up. Plans for a rockin’ time in key west might be a wash out
Hey; it’s all part of the adventure

You are right when you say adventure…. I would just hunker down in Miami and not head south until it passes.

Well we pondered on that awhile
Then headed south to Key West
Hell; could not get fuel with out an appointment in Miami. Thought that a little to restrictive. So we made to A&B in Key West. What a great place to hang out. Forcast seas off St Pete to Apalachacola were already more than I'm willing to conten with and no place I could find would let me tie up for the duration. So safe harbor here is as good as any. We'll hunker down, might get a room over at the navy place (be the first night off the boat in a month) and wait for the storm to pass. Not a great plan but that's what I got.

Throwing out a reply to the group for future reference. Got out of port last week and throttled up only to have the port engine spool up and starboard bogged down around 1500 rpms and wouldn’t spool. Back to the marina. Mechanic came out and diagnosed a bad booster pressure sensor. I had him replace both for good measure. Just got the bill for $980. Pressure sensors are $140 each direct from CAT in case you ever run into it. End result was smooth running after the new sensors were installed. Super easy fix with great access on both engines. Wish I was able to diagnose it myself.
