Official 510 DA Owners Group

Thanks you stephens013. I’ve sent boatswains an inquiry. I appreciate the referral!

They are a family operation now working out of Jacksonville Fl. Direct number is 904-388-0231. Give them your year and hull number and they will have the patterns for your boat. Install is easy, typical canvas snap stuff and they will send you the tools if needed. Material of their product was first rate. As mentioned; I replaced the whole front isenglass/canvas set up on my boat after a local guy just got way messed up on the project.

Has anyone replaced the ceiling lights in their salon? I’m switching everything over from gold to stainless and am looking for new fixtures. The trim measures 6” in diameter. Preferably LED. New Vimar outlet trims came in and the push button door grabs are on order. Thanks

Have any of you 510 owners upgraded your autopilot? I am looking at the Raymarine Evolution AP and wondering if anyone knows if these boats come with type one or two hydraulic pumps?

Changed out my navigation and anchor lights to led. Note the difference in the anchor light new and old. OEM Aqua Signal lights from Amazon. Marine Max/ SeaRay price was $126 for the anchor light; they could not source the for and aft light. Amazon had them both at just under $90 delivered. Have to buy the LED bulbs seperatly. Think those were $8 each.

By the way, the unit comes as 12 volt. I thought damn but then the OEM one I removed also was stamped with a 12 volt power rating. That's a 24 volt system. Exact same fixture and everything. Figure with a appropriately rated led it won't make a diferance.

510 group, battery question, does anyone have a schematic or just the layout to determine what each battery is for? I’ve got the 6 8D batteries and can’t find anything online. My starboard engine start is very weak. If I replace one I’ll replace all but I’d like to know what each one does. Thank you.

On my boat the aft two on port side are forward the starboard engine, forward two are for the port. The two on the starboard side are for the bow thruster.
My boat has an additional single 12volt battery for the generator.

Sounds like my setup. Thank you!!

Got the other two signal lights installed. Amazing how glazed the old ones were.

Two days days in a row and the Linda Jean has all systems up and running. About as ready as we'll ever be to cast off for the islands next week.

While I'm at it, can some one explane to me what the trolling feature dose

Great updates you have going there. The trolling valves essentially reduce pump pressure to slow your boat down. I’ve only played with it one time and they work good. Here on the Great Lakes the fishermen troll around 2-3 mph. Can’t get that slow without the trolling valves even on one engine in gear.

Interesting; I'll have to give that a go. Been wanting to mash that button, just wasn't sure what it would do.

Thanks

Fyi, I had an email in to Sea Ray support and they sent me the attached diagram. It's exactly as stephens013 states above. Just thought I would post it here for future reference.

Took Linda Jean out to calibrate auto pilot settings and some final systems check. Fully laden and against current and wind she cranks along at 22 knots at just over 1800. This boat keeps impressing me. Not bad; not bad at all.

My trolling button has no effect on nothin. Called SeaRay techs; they say some boats did not have the function. Thought that a bit strange in that I have the switch. But hey; don't plan on going that slow anyway.

Take a look at your transmission. If ZF and similar to mine, you will have (3) solenoids. One forward, one reverse, one for troll.

I'll be checking these suckers out tomorrow. Have any idea which one dose what?

At one point i did. Now, not so much. I had one fail so had to diagnose.

Well now I feel cheated. Got the switch but nothing else's

Hello Folks,

I have a few ??. 1.) Has anyone seen intermittent overheat on one or both of the main engines? Hasn't done it this year yet, but, last year it happened a few times when I was cruising at close to wide open throttle for long periods. The port engine would overheat causing the alarm would go off and I'd have to shut it down. I'd wait 30 seconds and start it back up again and it would cool down through the natural process. It's almost like something was getting stuck in the heat exchanger system somewhere and then settling down once I shut it off. Anyway, I could very likely have pieces of old impeller or something in there. Thought I'd give a shout out to the group though.

2.) Every so often I find around 2 cups of diesel fuel behind the forward bulkhead circular access plate to the forward bilge. Since there doesn't appear to be any pressure behind the leak, I suspect it's at or near the tank fitting, the fill line, tank vent hose or similar. Does anyone have any ideas or a schematic to help me find out where the access is to each of the 3 tanks? Thanks in advance.

Walter
