I like this no glue concept.

Wondering about water getting under the mat and becoming a long term issue?

I had it on my 330 for years with no issues. it has a foam backing its not the peel and stick stuff. it comes in 10ft rolls than the guy returned to his shop to sew on a binding

Since I just did the cockpit I wanted to update the hardware on the engine hatch??
I saw that the company ABI? is out of business any other options?

I keep getting a funky smell in my cabin and I traced it out to sump box. I was shocked to discover that the sink drains into it. does anyone treat it or put stuff down the drain?

I have been using the toilet puck for years and this past year I have been using no flex digester down every drain to get rid of any build up in the drain line...

All the sinks in my present boat drain directly overboard.

The shower sump/A/C condensate area is the only item that does not.

Any reason not to modify the galley sink, or for that matter, ALL the sinks to drain directly overboard?

I was thinking the same, Im just guessing one less hole in the hull

Mine are just above the water line, so no muss, no fuss.

Galley sink, head sink & Bar sink, all drain out their own individual bronze outlets.

Is there any logical reason NOT to re-plumb these? Especially the galley?

I sold my 450 a month ago, moved up to the 510.

When I first bought my 450, the first thing I did was open up the drain sump box for the showers and the sinks and cleaned it with a toilet brush, Clorox bleach, and then some simple green. So I started with a clean box. Then each time we would leave the boat after using it, I would take a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket, add 2 big scoops of Oxy Clean, let that dissolve for a while in the hottest water from my gally sink. Then right as we were leaving and I was sure no one else was going to use a toilet or a sink, I would pour generous amounts down every drain and into the toilets and would flush the toilet. Our boat never had any smell whatsoever. But we’re also in California and we don’t have the mildew issues that some do.

I would not re-route any plumbing. This system works perfectly. The less amount of holes you have in the side of your boat the less water can get in. My new boat has the drain sump box in the engine compartment. I like that a little better but either way works just fine.

That violates one of Frank's rules of boating….."Don't drill or saw any unnecessary holes in a perfectly good boat". Besides, it is just too easy to manage sump box odors. Our boat was in her 25th year and we never had head or sump box odors in the cabin.

Actually, if you think about it - truth is it might be a BAD IDEA to make any new holes in a balsa cored hull.

I hereby retract my earlier suggestion.

I had to really scrub my sump box. I don't think the elder couple I bought the boat didnt know it was their. It had an inch of mold around it. Also the plastic lid has duct tape holding it together. so during the winter have to make a new one. it has two teirs. the float is on the higher level??
