do ou have a splash date yet?
you said everthing went well with the survey.

did ou ever have your rear bench done?
how is the rest of the cockpit seating?

Thanks for the replies.
Unfortunately, like Saverio, one of the POs of my boat did a lot of rewiring with lots of crappy butt connectors and it doesn't look like the original pump in there. Hard to see through the soapy water.
My float floats and I was hoping to find the problem outside the sump as it is really nasty looking in there.
Guess nothing is ever easy.

Hey guys. I was looking around the rear Bilge compartment today and I noticed that we have a waste tank discharge pump (picture below). The thing is, I have absolutely no idea how to activate it... I haven't seen a button or a switch for it anywhere. Does anyone know? I'd like to be able to test the pump (while keeping the discharge hose valve closed of course). Thanks!

Separately, I spent some time today with mock printouts of the front panel express design files I got from Dr. Microchip. My first templates were off a bit (the port ignition would not have fit with my current design) but I feel like I'm getting really close! It's a fun project and the software is really intuitive to use.

Lastly, was unsuccessful at finding the tach sending unit on the front of the Cat diesel engines. Does anyone have a picture by chance?

Cheers!

JC, the discharge pump should be activated by a key switch located in the head just below the sink.

Just took the cover off sharing some pics

If you do have a hole in the hull you will sink the boat so first drill a 1/4" hole to discover how much water comes out. If it is a lot - haul the boat. There is very little room down there and since you will have the batteries out now would be a good time to remove the generator and get it checked out, heat exchanger cleaned, maybe a valve job, etc. I cannot imagine doing this with the gen in place!! .........

Well I finally got the courage to cut a hole in the engine room floor. I decided to start with a hole just in front of the aft bilge pump well. After cutting the hole I dug out the foam around the hole. So far I removed about 5 gallons of water and the smell is not very pleasant. My plan is to keep checking the hole and removing the water as is seeps into the opening. I'm going to hold off on making the hole under the battery box until I pull the boat this fall.

Thanks for the great advice
Scott
P.S. I would like to share some photos of this projects and of my boat. What's the best way to do share photos.

How deep was the foam back there? Is it deep enough to put a small bilge pump in there to take away the water if it keeps accumulating? Where do you think the water is coming from?

Photobucket is probably the easiest way to share photos. You can also donate to the site and get storage space that way (or do both like I did ;) )

I'd say the foam is about 3-4 inches deep. I might be able to get a small pump in there. Not sure where the water is coming from. I do have water around my fresh water tank from time to time that I have to remove. Could that water be making its way back to the engine room?

Where oh where could the water be coming from?

Forward of bulkhead. Water is coming from:

Leaks in side windows.
Leak where wiper wires come down from windsheild. Stbd front corner where frame meets deck.
A/C condensate pan is leaking.
Shower drain plumbing is leaking under shower pan where you can't see it.
Chain locker bulkhead has rotted through and water is making its way aft.
Leaking sink plumbing and or drains.
Leaking water tank due to standing in water from other sources and has crevice corrosion. Mine looked like a piece of swiss cheese on the bottom.
Probably water in foam under water tank floor. Should drill a 1" inspection hole.

Engine room:
Drain holes through stringers are not sealed, rotted and leaking.
Cracks between floor and stringers.
Screw holes in floor.
Screw holes in transom.
Holes between forward, aft sumps and lower bilge.
Hole rotted in engine room bulkhead from water forward of the bulkhead. See above.

It appears that my picture photo bucket link contains links to all the boat photos I uploaded. Please enjoy them all. We bought the boat in the fall of 2012. So far we have reupholster the L-shaped couch and bunk beds, replaced the carpeting. I also have replaced the battery box, and the battery charger.

I hope you all enjoy my photos.

Gentle men: I need help. I managed to hit a rock Sunday and took out the Stbd running gear including shaft, shaft strut, prop rudder and rudder shaft. I have a new shaft and props coming in by Monday. I need to find the strut, and rudder
