Finally completed the Bottle holder behind TV, Never really use the TV above the fridge but its there and works so hinged the TV mount and installed bottle holder on Slides.

Needs some finishing touches but turned out OK.

Cheers

Does anybody know if the big blocks in our boats are 12 3/4 inch flywheel or 14 inch?

Need to order a spare starter...

Thanks!

I think the clean fill may work if the fill is on a flat surface...not on the angle as ours are.

Does anyone know where the Digital Sounder Module is located? I have looked all over and can’t seem to find it.

Fuel tank question. What is the capacity of each tank on the early 2000 380? I know the total is 275 but does anyone know the breakdown?

Thanks Chris, we had a no start when we went to leave on Thursday for 3 weeks. I had looked for a starter with the usual suspects and could not find one. Then our boat buddies mentioned Harbor Marine in Everett. They had the mercruser 808011A4 equivalent in Sierra...5603. 3 of them in stock. So I ran down there and got one but the boat started on it's original starter. So it is a spare.

I am wondering if it is a wiring issue with the new batteries...

I'll keep you posted from the San Juans!

Where do you guys place your inverter...if you have one.

I am thinking about a couple of solar panels on the canvas top and an inverter for quick things like coffee and maybe a microwave for short warm ups.

This is a lot of rambling and brain storming

Has to be out if the engine room, also you would want it to be close to the batteries and to stay cool. When I did mine on my last boat, (1500 watt continuous) I ran 3/0 welding cable, and that was about 15’ iirc. As I picture doing this, I would like to install the inverter maybe in the same area as my amp, behind the salon couch under the electrical panels. May be too far though. Behind the fridge if it stays cool enough would be better

You would need to figure out which 120 volt panel you want to run, and install a switch in line with the genny feed to add the inverter into the mix..... so that you don’t accidentally have inverter power and genny or shore on at the same time. Unless you just install dedicated receptacles to this. Keep in mind, the inverters are about 85-90% efficient, so there is 10-15% of wasted power. So, imo, you don’t want to use this method all the time, only when needed.

you want a true or “real” sine wave Over the modified sine wave. The modified takes about 150% time to provide the same power for things like microwave. Just my observation

microwaves and coffee makers take a large amount of power, just keep that in mind. I like the idea of an inverter. I would probably spend the money, and install one to power 1 of my 120 v panels with a future plan to power the other at some point. I would probably just turn off the big loads like AC because those will decimate you’re battery power pretty quick. I would want to change the 120 volt breakers (That I want the inverter to run) out to the type that is in the engine rooms probably, that are locked on. Then I could turn off the breakers I don’t want to use easily, including the fridges, AC, converter/charger etc....

I look forward to this at some point, not cheap or easy, but very convenient to use, imo

man example of an inverter I would use

here is the type of switch I would try to use, might not be enough room in the panels, but you get the idea. I had a 4 position on my last boat, inverter, genny, shore or off. Genny was for future. With our boats I would feed the current breaker (from the genny/shore with the manual safety device) into the “shore” on this switch and change the name plate from “generator” on this one to “inverter”
Haven’t really looked into the detail of this part though.

Wow, thanks for schooling me on inverters! I am sitting here looking around for a place for the inverter and the tall locker Port side just outside the hatch might work. It is just above the batteries and there is an 120V outlet there that I might be able to tie into.

I understand there are smart inverters that sense AC voltage and shut off.

We are pretty sure the no start is from the smart relays. If we wait for 5 minutes we hear them click and we have start. The installer is researching with ACS and we will get after it when we get back.

It’s about 137 gallons each
Sometimes I hate the internet because I can not tell when someone is "smiling" or not. So this could be factual information or it could be someone doing what I would be likely to do and making a smart a$$ comment! So if this is true...thank you. I will just need to inform my smartcraft unit that says I have 286 gallons in it currently after fueling up that it is wrong.

For a 2000, it shows 143 gallons in each...

Edit, same for 2003 approx page 80/81

Thank you for that. I don't know why I didn't think to look in that manual...I guess I didn't expect it to be listed that way. Interesting that two tanks with completely different shapes like that could be exactly the same capacity. Also interesting that all of the marketing material for these boats says that the capacity is 275.

I know there is a certain amount of fuel that isn't usable, i was under the impression it was about 10. Curious if its 5, which would give us the 275 total usable fuel....

Just changed the duckbills while floating in Prevost Harbor on Stewart Island...

Good thing our boat buddy had a set. Gonna get some as spares.

Sounds like there are 4 Duck Bills...I only replaced 2. Need to get a diagram. Anyhow, it works now!

Now I have a starter, small fuses, wiring stuff and a raw water pump for the generator.

Any suggestions for other spares?

Cleaned the strainer on the generator and replaced the fuse on the stern thruster. I called the installer and he said go to a 500 amp from the 400 amp. He also said that they had a batch of "not so great" fuses. I bought a Blue Sea 400 amp and a 500. 23 bucks each on Amazon. There were some that were 10 for $9.99. They look suspiciously like the two that have blown. Really, a buck each from China....sheesh.

Thanks Doc, The diagram really helped!

I got 2 in and did not realize where the rest were. I have some on order and will be ready for the future.
