Official 380 Thread

It's bungee'd to the bracket of the diamond plate step. I searched the vast archives and don't have a pic. I'll snap one on Friday and post it.

I only keep hydraulic fluid in the locker near the salon door. All the rest is in the ER in the crate.

You at right, milk crate fits percent under step... Still trying to figure out a good way to secure it. What do you use hydraulic fluid for?

Steering. I had a bottle from my old boat. Topped this boat off when I got it...but you never know when you might lose fluid, and that makes getting home tough.

Does anyone know how to adjust the vibration damper on the shafts coming out of transmission. I have a noise and vibration on the port side.

Lining the bottom of the milkcrate is oil-sorb cloths. Grey ones - available at Pep Boys by the roll. In the crate is a quart of generator oil (Straight 40w), 5 quart jug of Sierra 25w40 for mains (about 2 quarts left in the jug), a mostly full gallon of red Prestone coolant (same stuff in the gen and the mains), and a quart of Dex/Merc ATF for trannys. Various funnels (dedicated to each fluid) and a rag.

Thanks. Do you know how to add coolant? I always look at it when I climb down there and i'm not sure where the full line is and/or how to add it. I've heard something about burping the system?

I've always just added coolant to the overflow bottle
Only time I've burped it was when the system was drained (on my previous boat) after reinstalling the heads. There are gradations on the bottle marked "add" and "full."

Ron, thanks for the photo. Did the same this weekend :smt001

I like 3350. Around 19 knots, 29gph, a tad under 0.8mpg. Or if you want to push it a bit more this fairly economical.

Thanks. I have that same chartplotter, do I need to buy a card with the lake map on it? I just bought the boat and haven't used the radar and/or chart plotter yet. I got the radar working but don't see a chart.

You need the C-map Jeppsen card. Go here---->http://c-map.jeppesen.com/us/ and look up your plotter. You prob have the RL80c plus. Find the card that works best for your area and order it or you can sometimes pick up a used one on ebay. The plotter is horribly slow and primitive by today's standards but if your RADAR is working you may as well stick with it. If the RADAR dies (or the plotter display dies) no current displays will work with the existing array so you have to remodel all the electronics (RADAR array and multi-function-display/plotter.

It's an easy change, if you are the type of person to crawl around the back of the starboard engine to reach it. I suggest downloading the Westerbeke (if that's what you have) manual to see the diagrams and the required parts. It can be reached by removing the starboard cockpit seat and a section of the decking. Also a good time to change oil. Good luck.

I am thinking of upgrading/replacing my old Raymarine e80 classic with Garmin 7612 or 7610 have any of you been through this?
