Can anyone one tell me from looking at these photos if these horizon 7.4 engines have been updated to correct the water ingestion issues that they were known to have?
There is 2 fixes from what I know. The pics you shared look like mine and has the 6” extension which was the mass produced fix. The best fix is the drop muffler, which you see on the 8.1 exhaust. From what I understand, the exhaust in your pice works fine in the inland lakes, but struggles in the ocean type setting. Hoping someone with better knowledge responds
 
If you turn it on and see no light check the inline fuse. there are two screws holding it on and the whole box comes out and behind is an old school 1 amp inline fuse..

No....those are the original horizontal "log" mufflers. The updated Water Lift muffler is a vertical muffler.
I updated my boat back in 2019 to the water lift and with new exhaust hoses, ABA clamps and all fittings its about $2,000.
You have to special order the muffler from the manufacturer (they still have the SeaRay specs).

Nope. But, after 20 years of running one with water lift mufflers, I still get reversion. I think it's just the nature of the beast with MAG MPI Horizons. Your intake plenum tells me you are a GEN VI engine.
 
A couple of pages back, I posted that our boat basically sold before it hit the market. Our broker reached out to some of his buddies in the business to see if someone had been looking for a 380.

They did a survey and sea trial a week ago Thursday. The compression test showed a low cylinder.

We have not been able to find a new boat and we are quite concerned that we will miss out on the boating season. Watching the boats for sale, the prospects are grim.

So we told our broker that we would not pay for any repairs...the boat is "as is" and we did not want the buyers to pay for a mechanic to do a leak down test. Well, the buyers said unless the diagnosis is really bad, they will still take the boat.

So the mechanic will be up in the morning. My guess is there is a bad head gasket. The Starboard engine always wanted a bit of top up on the anti freeze coolant.

So we may be boatless. I will try to keep the board up to date.

If we end up keeping the boat until we find a new boat, we will repair it ourselves.

If we relist the boat, it will be at $140k, not $125k.

That's what I know!

The mechanic found 2 cylinders low, one on each bank. Likely at least the head gaskets from the exhaust risers failed.

I looked at the receipts from the previous owners showing "good used risers". WTF...new rebuilt engines and used fucking risers...well, all 4 of them are failed.

A long block is not that much more than valve jobs and head gaskets including labor if the cylinders are scored. You will not know if the cylinder is scored until you spend all the labor.

Going the long block route if we keep the boat. I still think the buyers will take it as is.

Oh, the hot start issue...4 cracked spark plugs. Shorting out the spark to ground.

What I cannot believe is the mechanic that was on the survey did not catch that.

I pulled the box off of the wall this weekend. There was no fuse that I saw. There were red and black wires that went down into the wall. Is the fuse in-line of those wires? If so how far down on the wire? And were does it connect to the 12 volt circuit?

Is this a common practice that most of you follow? What is the logic behind it. There is nothing running off of the batteries. Or is there? The bilge pumps and some other critical items are not behind the main solenoids. Does the charger still run?

I turn off the water pump and head system and the boat is plugged into shore power so the fridges are running on A/C. But I have always just left the solenoids on. Am I doing something wrong?

I do similar, leave relays on and turn off selective dc breakers, like the vacuflush and fresh water pump. This leaves my lights powered when I get to check things out, I don’t come down in the dark.

No idea, haven’t messed with that system. My boat came with satellite, but I only use my firestick
 
I changed out both the sidewall and flooring. I had a carpet guy that did my homes. This is the second time. I doesn’t last too long I got maybe 6-7 years out of it. I don’t like the runners. Wood scratches. Carpet feels and looks warmer to me.
David your carpet looks great Can you please tell me the cost for carpet And the labor to install.
 
Last few days of ownership, buyers are taking the boat as is. All I have to do is get my heaters off the boat. Was talking to the buyer broker and he asked if we were leaving the fenders and lines. Wow, do people strip their boats when they sell them? We are even leaving the nice Taylor Made fender line adjusters. The Admiral really likes them when setting fenders for different height docks.

Anyhow, thanks to everyone for the community, the help and knowledge. It has made the time with this boat a great experience!

In the middle of typing this the Marine Title company called and we are closing today. It's real.

I hope to find a new boat soon but there are very few boats of any kind. Thinking of a Meridian as the stairs up to the flybridge are very deep, not at all like a ladder. The Sea Ray 400 Flybridge would be nice to too pricey. Perhaps a Meridian 441 as it is a big more generous in places that count like storage and the galley. The Admiral likes it better...!

when i bought my 380, there were no fenders, there were some ropes and orange life jackets. I throw that stuff in when i sell a boat, its the right thing to do imo.... good luck!

Man....all of the accessories pretty quickly turn into an extra $5k when buying that next boat! PFD's, lines, bumpers, spare anchors, hoses, power cords, safety gear...if it's not bolted down and not called out in the purchase agreement - I'm keeping it :)

I have stripped a boat before because the buyer pissed me off (boat was kept in dry storage so they did not need the lines and such), but in general I leave everything except my personal items.
 
David your carpet looks great Can you please tell me the cost for carpet And the labor to install.
Such a small amount of carpet it’s not that expensive. Just the floor was around 600 recently. Plus install. Another 600. The first time was a bear stripping the old stuff off with the factory glue. The second time was easier. Hatches needed to be trimmed. Those wood floors are beautiful, but the are going to scratch and you gonna cry.
