Official 380 Thread

Hey Chris,

Have you tried prying up the floor of the closet. If it is anything like the motorhome, they are thin plywood with very small pin nails.

On my 2000 380 I think the ducting goes under the step to the port side of the boat to a chase on the forward side of the closet. I can see an access port in your picture. Also, the hinge side of the closet, the forward side is the chase.

Cheers!
I have been in the right side access, and the back one is the wiring chase, similar to the starboard. I will mess with it this winter. Hopefully I can pull the bottom without damaging the carpet, it would be nice to reuse that, if possible

I would suspect it is screwed in. Look around the edges for screw heads buried in the carpets.

Happy Labor Day!!

Who has replaced their 380 salon carpet with some sort of wood looking product. Looking to do this in the off-season. @Mig22 and I have talked, he pointed out a nice product in nautikflor. Interested in any advice, especially the hatches. Also what you did in the stateroom in front of the closets, the floor raises on each end at an angle.

thank you!

I have A new to me 2000 380.
The question I have is.
There appears to be water entering the shower sump, but it is not coming from the Shower drain or either air conditioner.
Does anyone have any idea where it would be coming from?
I dont that think that anything else drains into it.

Upgrading from our 01 290 Sundancer, and considering an 04 380 Sundancer - about 800 hours on Cat 3126 diesels, spent first 12 years in fresh water, had 500 hour service, and some various upgrades. Boat's in Florida, and I'm on Long Island, so planning a virtual tour soon. Obviously, I'd have to have it surveyed in FL, and get it back to Long Island, so I'm also factoring that into the cost.

We love the Sundancer, but also considering Formula 40PC's with Yanmar diesels, which have their own concerns.

This would be my first experience with diesels, but I've heard mostly great things about them in general.

I'd appreciate any thoughts, opinions, etc.

Diesels in a 380 would make that boat pretty rare. Don't let her slip away if you think she might be "the one". Get an offer out there ASAP (contingent on surveys, sea trial and the like of course)!!!

Thanks for the advice. I agree - in all my searching I haven't seen many at all with diesels. That's why I'm also looking at the Formulas.

One of our members, possibly @quality time had a 380 with diesels. Maybe he, or the said member will post a reply.
But, as Stee said, better get your offer in as they are quite rare and desirable.

See my edit.
Oh ok, I see it. The owner is out of town, but said his brother can do a virtual tour, so I'll try schedule that ASAP. I just walked away from a Formula based on the engine survey results, so I'm probably a little extra cautious right now...but I agree - in all my searching very very few 380's come up with diesels, so I'll pursue it quickly!

May be the safety valve from the water heater is failing and leaking water into the sump.

Thanks Sam
Would you see water around the water heater if the safety valve was leaking? Would that also explain why the fresh water pump kicks on for just a split second and then shuts off. It does this about every 2 Mins.

Some water heaters have the relief valve plumbed to the shower sump. If this is the case, you wouldn't see water around the heater. If the relief valve is going off then yes that would explain why the pump cycles every couple mins. look at the heater and see if there’s a hose on the relief valve. If so, undo it and see what’s happening

Thanks Gordon,
How do I get to the hot water heater? It is under the Aft sofa.
That is power. Do I need to remove the cushion on the sofa?

Here is how to access the water heater

Iirc, the relief valve is piped to drain overboard, and the drain goes into the engine bilge, that’s by memory though….
Thanks,
Why is there water going into the sump with no water in the shower and Both AC units off. This was happening while I was underway and it set an alarm off on my systems monitor. I drained he water and it kept filling up and alarming out.

Is it going into the sump box, or the bilge pump just aft of the sump shower. I had that happen to me, which sets off an alarm. The shower sump should not set off an alarm, just a green indicator light near the toilet where the holding tank level lights are
