Official 370 Sundancer thread

what should cruise speed and rpms be with the 7.4 carbed engines on a 93 370 express?owner says 20-22 at 3000 rpm is that a normal rpm for cruise it sounds low to me.

I just replaced the top on my 1996 (low arch) 370 Dancer. I have the old blue top... I think it's original... If you need it, I'll send it, FREE. Just pay the freight. Dave 716-998-5664

Has anyone replaced their shower faucet. Mine had an unfortunate accident some winters ago and leaks out of the base when turned on now. Would love to replace it but don't know what would fit in there. Any suggestions?

Also what is the best way to get my passenger seat 'internals' fixed. The back finally gave way this year. Would it be an upholstry shop or a some sort of furniture repair shop

Last question. We took an extra lcd tv from home, hooked it up to an HD antenna, plugged it all in and watched football on the back of the boat all day on sunday. I didn't like having to run the generator all day just to run the tv. Would i be able to just plug an inverter into my dash 12V socketand run it off that all day?

Well, I spent a couple months last year trying to find a suitable shower replacement faucet because my handles were leaking. I thought it would be easy to simply go to the hardware store and get new handle inserts...NOT! I couldn't find anything...I went so far as to call Sea Ray...no help, manufacturer is out of business. I had to place a shut off valve on the shower hose at the head to keep it from leaking since the handles couldn't turn it off. Also, getting to the bottom side to replace unscrew the nuts to the base plate was going to require an 8" pygmy to crawl inside the access hole. I would love to hear if anyone found a replacement and how they did it.

As for the seat, we had the same problem last year with the guts simply rotting out. We removed the seat....took it to a marine canvas and upholstery company and had them take the vinyl off for me. I wanted them to do it since they are experts at removing and replacing vinyl. I then took the rotted wood seat and back and made new parts from marine grade plywood. Used the originals as my template and built a new subframe. Primed and painted it then took it back to the canvas guy and he re-upholstered it for me. After all that I never re-installed it. We put a Corian counter top in it's place with a nice little backsplash and created a new wet bar area for beverages of choice. The Admiral never liked sitting over there anyway, she was too far from the Captain and wasn't able to bark commands or control the stereo as readily.

As for the 12v inverter, simply a matter of knowing the wattage and current draw of the LCD. Will the inverter handle it? You have enough batteries on board that starting later in trhe day shouldn't be a problem. We sit at a sandbar for 6-8 hours on lake Michigan with both fridges running along with two 700 watt JL marine audio amps running too many speakers for our own good and we start it right up when it''s time to go home.

Have fun!
Bill

I can only address the seat. I took the two helm seats apart and rebuilt the plywood bases out of marine plywood and then epoxy sealed them. I had never done upholstery before, but I got some stainless steel staples and pulled out my staple gun and re-stapled all the fabric back onto the frames over the foam inserts. Good as new. Next year, I'll probably do the same for the port side.

Any special problems with the 370 ec that i or a surveyor should look for.I am trying to get a look /seatrial saturday.I have contacted a surveyor that will be available when pulled for storage if necessary.

In the early 90's the salon windows like to leak. Check for stained carpet around the windows in the salon and v birth. Parts are becoming N/A on the quick silver gen set. We purchased every spare part for the gen we could find.
Other than that we had not had any problems. Love the express with the engines mid section not the V drives in the aft.

Good Luck on your 370 EC search and survey. Although it is a different animal, we absolutely love our 370 DA and are very glad we made the change.

This one has mid engines and westerbeke genny, dripless, one rebuilt engine with 60 hrs and the other with 600 hrs. Thanks Glen

can anyone tell me which type of engine oil I need for 1997 7.4 merc? can I get it at a auto parts store?

My mechanics recommend straight 30w.
Mercruiser recommends:
"Quicksilver 4-Cycle 25W-40 Marine engine oil is recommended."

We live in northern Michigan, and are boating season is much shorter than most. The 30w has always worked well for us and all my friends that use the exact same.

Any of you have a 370 ec with cummins 300hp diesels?I saw one for sale with 1500 hrs on it ,is that too many? Are these engines worth having over the traditional 454 mercs?

It seems I need to replace the trigger relay on one of my cruiseair units. Where would this relay box be? Would it be located in a different location from where the units are installed or is it part of the cruiseair unit itself?

What oil weight are you using in your Westerbeke 7.2 gennny? - I have read through the manual and I must be blind because I cannot find any reference.

Spiro,
Do you remember who you purchased the screw cover and the windshield vent gasket from?

Thanks
Connie
