Official 370 Sundancer thread

Hi IceTime,

I believe that my problem with this leak was do to the fixed portlight window leaking, I looked at every area where the water had stained the bolster and when I saw water that sat on top of the almost flush chrome ring and slowly get sucked behind the ring I felt I found the issue. I removed both fixed portlights on the starboard side and removed all wet coring I could and let it dry out over the winter. I filled it with some WM expoxy and rebedded the rear portlight, I replaced the front one along with the port side front one with new opening portlight units, love them for some fresh air while we are gone or at night, its kinda like dual temrature zones for the wife and I . Since I caught this quickly the bolster was not stained to bad so I left it with plans to change the upolstery in the future! Good luck on fixing this issue!

I notice that a few screws were loose on the portlight, so I removed the portlight from the outside to silicone the whole thing again, but after doing that and trying to put the screws back on, some are not getting tight to get a good seal againts the haul. Aome one told me that those screws have nut and maybe that the nuts fell inside the haul or something. I know you took yours off from the inside, but did you see anything to where there is a nut to tighthed the screw that are from the outside? I have seal the whole thing anyway but if i can get access to those nut or to replce the one missing, i will take it apart again and redo it the propr way! Let me know what you thing or if you have any ideas. Thanks!

Benny,

The fasteners are held together by very small nuts that hold the unit together, you can see them by taking the inner trim ring off and pull back the upholstery a little, they are slighly curved and have one or two threads and are buried in the glass. Very hard two find new ones so be careful in handling them. Good luck,

Marty

Marty,

Thanks bub! I am heading to the boat today and will check that out, the boat is still out of the water as I am installing a new telescopic swim platform ladder today. I was going to take the inner part of the portlight out yesterday but here in NY it was 104' degrees and when I walked inside the gally, I almost dropped from the heat, so today is a better day to do that ! LOL ; I hope I can fix the problem here!
Thanks again Marty

How dose everybody feel about the noise from the 36000rpm 7.2 bcgtc Westerbeke gen? I will be replacing the impeller this weekend just so I will know when it was replaced. (new boat to me) But water flow seams normal.

When I first got my 37DA and started the gen I thought something was wrong with it and shut it down. I was used to my 1800 rpm Quicksilver on my previous boat and was not happy to find out that this new unit was a screamer. Not much you can do about it. My current boat has a 10 kw Westerbeke that runs at 1800 so now I'm happy again. Mark

Mark,
Thanks for the reply. Sent an e-mail to Westerbeke yesterday and the replyed today saying increasing the size of the lift muffler and the hose size after the lift muffler will generally reduce exhaust discharge force and noise but that the sound shield was obsolete.

Ok, I know this has been posted before, but I can't find it. My husband wants to mount a a flat screen in the cock pit area on the arch. Can someone tell me the post # on this form.

Looking to replace the old analog TV in v-berth. Was able to replace the old Magnavox in the salon but can not figure out how to take out the TV in the forward berth. Any suggestions?

You have to go in the closet/locker next to the tv and remove the section of wall that it also next to the tv. It will unscrew. Then take out the screws under the piece of wood that the tv is attached to. Slide the tv out.

Just got back from a ten day trip and the boat has developed a very annoying habit. Four times on the trip when I shut the boat down and tried to restart the engines an hour or two later they would not start. The only way I could get them to run was to remove the fuel filters and fill them with fuel. Each time they would only be about a third full. I blamed myself the first time because it was 95 and I forgot to leave the blowers on. However, the next day it did the same thing with the blowers on and same outside air temp. The last time it did it I idled about ten minutes to the fuel dock in the morning in about 80 degree temp and the boat would not start again. Has anyone else had this problem? I hate to think I have to leave my boat running anytime it is warm.

Do some searching, but I remember some people having similar problems.... possible solutions are fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel anti-siphon valves, collapsing fuel lines, fuel valves, etc. I know the problem isn't inherent with the 370 either. I seem to recall some with the 330's having issues.

Jack, any luck with solving your problem? I remember reading about this before and hearing that it was some sort of a vapor lock issue. It happened to me a couple of times and I was able to start the engines by advancing the throttles. Mark
