Official 370 Sundancer thread

Hey you guys, I’ve been quiet but visit often. Pretty much everything I’ve fixed or intend to has been addressed here. I’ve started saving pages to pdf in case god forbid this ever disappears! Thank you! I have this same issue and also suspect the fridge. This compartment has been bone dry for almost a year and suddenly-water. Just as you described. Sump is clean and working fine. Replaced the switch to the bilge pump. No leaks coming from any of the hoses in that area. I had a trusted electrician out three days ago for something else and asked him to eyeball that area to see if he noticed anything obvious I’m missing. So, this is apropos in the worst way. I’ll PC if you’d like, but someone else might benefit from the info some day in the future if you want to put it out here. Btw Nate, I followed in your footsteps on your hot water heater problem too. Your post helped me tremendously. And I bought wrap for my dash months ago. Just haven’t had time to do it. Now I have the step by step. Cool! Except I wanted to do it “first”. Haha. Since I seem to be following in your footsteps right now, please don’t have any major problems any time soon.

Hey that's great to hear! Im happy someone is getting use of the information. I think i can be a bit pedantic at times but i figure ill just write down as much as i can.

I have been helped by so many in here that i figured i would play it forward. Its such a good resource for everyone who owns this boat. Id be fucked if i didn't have it. A pdf sounds awesome, it would be much easier to search certain things.

Cheers and post pictures of your mods.

Nate

Can't talk about all of it tonight, but here's where you start. I had the nightmare, but I have made it a better boat.
Where the bilge pump is in the salon floor compartment, push on the aft facing wall, at the bottom and at the top. If it's soft in either place, then you likely have water on the other side, in a compartment that you have no access to without a cut off tool.
Tell me what you find. If you want to take this private, that's ok too. Just start a conversation with me.
This is the target area for wayward water collection. I've learned that there are occasions where the glass delaminates at the underwater exhaust ports, and water makes it to here. My case was a slow leak in the pressure water inlet to the ice maker (for years). In that case, the water made it between the hull and liner to this one compartment, which eventually overflowed into the foam filled compartments around it, and discovery was water weeping up through the mounting holes for the water heater under the mid-cabin settee. I assume they never expected water to get there, so no caulking on those drill holes.
This is the compartment in question. You can't get to it, and why it wasn't foam filled like all the others around it remains a mystery to me.
I had to cut a hole in the floor above it at the base of the stairs. That led to 3 months of other things.... but, she's all better now. And, I have an inspection plate where there should have been one to begin with.

New subject: Galley refrigerators
Searching around I am seeing Isotherm, Novakool, Vitfrigo, Norcold, etc.
Short answer: What did you put in, did you have to mod the cavity, when installed, and are you happy?
TIA.

So I replaced my aft AC unit with a 6000 BTU unit from webasto. This is my second one from them. Replaced the forward unit last year. Very happy with both. Easy install (once you get the old ones out) and quite, powerful units. And can’t beat the price compared to dometic.
BUT, I’m now having a flow issue from my sea water pump for them. Had good flow out of the boat after replacing the forward unit. Now barely a trickle out of the forward unit and not great out of the aft after replacing the aft unit.
The units are rated for the same pump. Any thoughts?

Move back to the common points first. The pump. the strainer, the seacock. I'd start with a backflush, but be careful.. It's very easy to blow the hose off the A/C coil as they have no lip on the hose connection. A dock mate in Huntsville sank his boat after back flushing from the overboard thru hull, and went home. I have personally blown the hose off the coil pipe, but recognized the symptom immediately and shut it all down to re-attach the hose.

Hi all,

I'm looking to remake the items I'm missing to turn my cockpit seating into a day bed when needed.

If anyone has any images showing theirs setup as a daybed and especially showing how the table sits would be appreciated to workout exactly what I'm missing.

No pic at the moment, but you replace the tall pole for the table with the short pole, and then you need the cushion that goes on the table.
If you do not have that cushion, I had one made when I first bought the boat, and subsequently never used it. I went to a beefy hi/lo table base that is permanently mounted in the cockpit. Start a conversation with me if you are interested in the cushion.

Boy did this request get swept under the rug! ZERO responses. Tried for a Novakool 5.8cu, but the current lead time is 4-6 months. Too bad, that one looks like a real winner.
Picked up the Isotherm Cruise 130 Elegance in Black. 4.7 cu, but we also have a cockpit fridge, so plenty of room at the end of the day. I'm done with onboard ice makers. I can buy a LOT of bags and a cooler with 10% of aggravation. I'm not going South of Rum Cay anymore, so I can stop and stock.

I'm still on the original fridge and have a 12v compressor fridge in the space of the ice maker too.

I once tried to pull the galley fridge to give it a clean up but couldn't get it past the stairs, so I'll be waiting till I really need to get it out....

Pull the stairs. Remove the bottom step, and then the frame to floor screws. It will give you plenty of room.

Has Anyone here personally trailered their own 37? Looking for tips with we drives as far as the trailer goes

It might be me, but I don't think anyone is taking a 12.5 foot beam down the road without an escort and a permit unless it's really local, and you are already buds with the ones who would not like that.

370Dancer. I drive and own a fleet of heavy wreckers so I’m very aware of the size height requirements for dot compliance.
My question is more on the trailer with the gear hanging out the bottom, not stern drive.

Granted, my boat made the trip from Palm Beach, Fl to CT on a trailer when we first got it. We didn’t remove the arch and the running gear was intact raised high enough above the road, but I can’t imagine that regularly transporting the boat on a trailer is good for a vessel that heavy and that big. Plus it cost us a boatload of money (pun intended) for just that one trip.

It's not a trailerable boat. I don't think you find many owners who would haul it around on a standard trailer. Most would go on a specail marine trailer that the yards/haulers use. My marina has a few they use to take boats to an off site storage location. Only about 5 miles.

Mine has been 1300 miles on the road. Bo Smith out of Mississippi has the perfect hydraulic trailer that splits so he can back up under the boat on pads, lift it, and then put the cross members back in. To your question, we didn't even remove the props. Running gear was fine. I did have to take the arch off, but it's a'98, which is taller than the 95-97 model. Still needed an escort car and permits.

Help!!!

Wtf is this?

Im getting a spark between these two contacts and starboard engine is running obviously rough

So idling out from the marina today, both transmissions engaged in forward, I experienced a very noticeable vibration. Placed both transmissions in neutral and vibration was gone. Determined that the issue is on the starboard side. Had my wife continue idling out while I got in the bilge. The vibration was intermittent and I noticed water dripping off the shaft during the vibration. Decided to return to the dock on just the port engine. I did leave the starboard running and used it with no issues no vibration when docking. Checked after docking and there was no water seeping from the shaft with the engine shut down. Any ideas on possible culprit or where to start?
