Official 370 Sundancer thread

Gene,
can you describe the A/C refit? What was involved in getting to the old one, and getting it out of the closet? what did you replace it with? Overall budget?
thx, that's on my list for this year.
Cliff

I am woefully behind on posting pics on the 370 Sundancer site so everyone could see.

For those who don;t know, the aft A/C unit is under the closet separating the mid-cabin from the salon. You have to take out the two drawers in the cabinet and you will see the unit behind them. Take the floor off the closet and you have access on two sides. The control unit is under the couch and the wiring snakes through a small hole in the wall. Even though I unbolted everything, it was pretty well stuck to the floor and took a strong wide spackle knife to loosen it.

I replaced the 6K BTU unit with a new 7K BTU unit from Dometic. The technology has developed quite a bit as the new unit was smaller, lighter and easier to install. I don't remember the exact cost but I got a boat show discount AND a rebate so the cost was a good 25%+ off list. Only got to run the unit for a couple of hours total before having to but the baby to bed for the winter.

The boat's in the water this past week and I'll need every bit of the reverse cycle given how cool it's been this spring.

P.S. I still have the old A/C unit which apparently only needs to be recharged so if anyone wants to make and offer, I'm open to shipping it off.

Will do. Boat goes on the hard tomorrow, so i should get to replacing the hinge cover in the next week or so. Based upon a prior post it does not sound like it will be too bad. Remove old one and insert new one. No disassembly required. But we'll see how that goes. Every time i do an easy job, it never seems to be too easy.

Other jobs include:

- Wax below the rub rail with Meguirs
- Tape waterline & put one coat of bottom paint on (Interlux bottomkote w/ ACT (ablative))
- Put anchor, chain, & rode back on boat (During off season I marked rode at 10' intervals with a band of red paint)
- Install new faucet in cockpit sink
- Install new stove knobs (that will be an easy one!)
- Install ice maker water filter
- Replace carbon in head tank vent filter (AKA fart filter)
- New irridium spark plugs (after i burn off last of oil that was put in fuel filter to winterize)
- New plug wires (thanks Russ!)
- Epoxy repair two of the vertical tabs under the swim platform (where they join the transom - there is a vertical crack)
- Reinstall 5 batteries (including 3 new ones this spring)
- Install rubber tips on all hose clamps in the bilge (to prevent slicing skin!)
- Put the new "SeatSaver" on the boat
- Put everytthing back on boat that i take off before winterizing (bedding, cushions, etc)
- Put other new goodies on boat (matching towels, melamine dinnerware for 8 (all matching!!))
- Reinstall canvas (already washed and 303 fabric guarded it in the fall)
- Pull props and get reconditioned, reinstall.

Probably forgetting a few but that's a good start. Can't wait. It has been a long winter.

Connie,

I did the hinge cover today. Piece of cake. Pull out the old one, and insert the new one. All you need are your hands to push the cover into place along the top and bottom. Took about 15 minutes total including removal of old one. Tip: Cut it long enough so it fits under the windshield stainless steel pieces at each end. It looks great.

Thanks John,

Did you also change out the rest of the rubber around the opening. If so were did you find it.

Connie, no i did not change the vent window gasket. The only place that drips is (was) the hinge cover.

Hi getting ready to purchase a 1997 370 sundancer. I live on the water and have about 3 ft of water at low tide and every now and then the wind blows out even more.havent had a big boat in the slip for quite awhile but used to keep a 40' deadrise with a big screw and it was pretty deep then. i know i can idle in gear a little and at least dig a hole for running gear. how much is minimum for this boat? also its some silt and then sand.Might have to pull in to slip but would rather back in.
