Official 370 Sundancer thread

Wow, 1000 posts. I appreciate all the help from everyone. I've learned alot about my boat here. Mark

Hi folks,

Yetserday I had three issues I was trying to resolve for a great young couple who have just bought a 370 that I am moored up to here in Scotland. I sail a Yacht and so have struggled with their problems but now have sorted both Steering issues and cabin heating problems.

So can you guys clear one last thing; the holding tank was full when they took ownership two days ago (why didn't the previous owner pump out as a courtesy?), what they want to know is can they divert past the tank to pump out to sea when outside of the coastal limits (5 miles here in Scotland) or does the 370 have only the option of the holding tank and dock side pump out? It can be a bit restricting here in the North of Scotland, when you try going to the Outer Hebrides there are really not many (none really) places with pump out facilities.

Cheers.

I finished the Garmin fuel sensor install yesterday, came out very well and was an easy install if anyone was thinking about it. I have played with them a bit but not yet gotten a handle on the operation side so I will update anyone that is interested. I also installed a intelliducer to add to my nmea network that is not being recognized so I will continue to work on that.

Boathead,

Glad you worked out two other issues. I'll give third one a try based on what i know of my 1998 370 with Vacuflush head. The holding tank is on the port side near the aft end of the engine compartment. I have the macerator option which is a pump that sits aft of the holding tank and pumps overboard via a through hull that is also in the same area as the pump. With the macerator option, you can pump overboard or get the tank pumped out via the dockside connection. The macerator works via a switch on the 12V panel in the main cabin. So, take a look in the engine room, and see if there is a macerator pump located just aft of the holding tank. If there is, follow the hose to the through hull, and make sure the through hull sea cock is open before you try pumping. Note access to this area of the boat is a challenge. Do it with engine off. If you do not have the macerator option, i think you are limited to usingthe docside pumpout.

Hope this helps.

Free to a good home - I've got most parts of two sets of original Sea Ray canvas for the 370 in Sunbrella Toast Tweed. One set came with my boat when I bought it in '06 and I acquired the other set from someone here on CSR (I think). There are two rear sunshades, four rear side panels (one needs zipper work), two rear center panels (one in poor shape), one forward sunshade and various front and side isenglass parts. I last used them in '09 before getting my camper top. I will box up and send to anyone who wants them for the cost of shipping UPS.

Launched the new to us 370 Fri afternoon.
What a beautiful day on lake Michigan for its maiden voyage.
She ran flawlessly.
The worst part was filling the tanks at 4.65 a gallon.
Oh,Well. Thats a pretty cheap price to pay for doing something you enjoy so much.

I got a quote from marine max(taylormarine) for windsheild vent gasket
7.28 per foot, + 25 handling+freight + tax
there is got to be a better place to get this
Anybody found a more reasonable supplier

Hi Guys,

Splashed last week all is good except for a much needed tuneup. I have been working on some small upgrades to her like the wet bar Area. The drink holder and faucet were ideas I got from here. The sink was something I came across at west marine. This sink fit right over the old one ecept for the drain which had to be opened up a little. I am adding a 19" tv as well once things settle down. New camper top coming in a few weeks. Will upload more photos in coming weeks.

Received mine last week from TaylorMade (Hinge Cover P/N 8229900). I bought 6 feet, so i probably will never need to buy it again! $49 total for material, handling and shipping.

I tried emailing Skipper Buds in MI as someone suggested but they never responded.

So if $49 makes that annoying drip go away. I will be happy.

Hey Marty, nice job on the bar area! I really like the stainless sink. The factory Sea Ray bar area leaves alot to be desired that's for sure. Mark

Hi John,

Can you let me know how hard it is to change it out and take pic. That drip drives me crazy.

Thanks

Week of April 25th for me as well. Most of my time this spring will be cleaning up from the last project of last year; installation of new mid-cabin A/C. Probably looking at ehaust manifolds before the year is out. Seeing as gas will be very cheap this year (not!), we'll be spending a lot of money on expensive alcohol and partying at the dock. Thank God for the jet boat to go play!

Gene

Gene,
can you describe the A/C refit? What was involved in getting to the old one, and getting it out of the closet? what did you replace it with? Overall budget?
thx, that's on my list for this year.

can you elaborate on which sink part number you got, and what do you mean by fit right over? Did you leave the old sink in place?

thanks

Hey 370dancer,

I found the sink at my local WM. I do not have the part number with me but is on there web site under sinks and the make is Shurflow it’s the only round oval they have listed. Purchased it and took it back to the boat to see how close it was to the original sink which was about 95% the same oval shape. One problem was my sink I bought had a small scratch and with the price I paid decided to take it back and get a new one. WM did not have any on hand and ordered a new one. When it came in it was in a different box and seemed a little deeper, but the bigger issue was quality control. There are 4 threaded studs for holding it down that are welded to the bottom which had bad sink marks on the top side! Anyone attempting this project beware you may have to go thru a few boxes to find one that’s in good shape. Needless to say I kept my sink and they discounted it for the scratch. The old sink is molded into the fiberglass so I would not advise trying to remove it due to damage to the surrounding area. The new sink has a raised edge which is bigger than the old and can accommodate leaving the old flange in place. I positioned the new on top the old and marked the 4 studs, drilled oversized holes maybe 3/8". I had to cut a portion of the old sink around the drain to accommodate the new which is bigger. I also had to purchase a new drain which has a 90 degree bend to accommodate my plumbing. You can cut the threads to the length you need or use some type of shim I used some SS nuts to take up the length I needed. I was only able to get to 3 studs to hold it down which was ample. A small bead of silicone and job complete also $165 bucks later. Good luck

Sorry John,
Skipper Buds is very hard to get a hold of.
Luckily I live near one of there stores.

Has anyone put Nautley Dinghy davits on there 370?
If so how well do you like them.

Thanks

From what Marty is saying it sounds like the original sink is molded in??? Mine was a separate piece that was just held in place with silicone. I removed it to install a corian type overlay and then just re installed it. Maybe Sea Ray changed how they made them over the years. Mark
