Official 330 Sundancer Thread

Do you know how the work was done? from outside or from the cabin? I would suspect matching the grain on the deck would be a challange.

tell me about it! I took a look at what it would take to replace the remote and decided to go with a Clarin CMD 5 which is the last head unit that worked with the wired remote on my boat. Guess I could have gone to a newer head unit and a wireless remote but they were pretty pricey when I replaced mine.

don't be limited by the remote.. get an aquadyne rf remote. it is a rf to ir converter, so no wiring through boat. will work on any head unit that works with an ir remote. it floats and is water proof. I have had mine for 2 seasons now and it rocks

Not sure. There is a visible scar on the deck though. Looks more like a straight line a couple of inches wide. It's not all that noticeble.

My work was done from the outside. Much less expense that way. You are very correct that no matter how good it will be noticed on the non skid. The better the craftsman that does it the less so bordering on little to none. But ours you can plainly see it.

Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the sliding cabin door to replace the trucks without removing the whole shroud that surrounds it? It looks as if it might come out on an angle after you remove the screws from the trucks. I think my trucks and possibly my tracks are worn out.
Thanks

I don't think so, but I never tried. There are screws in the tracks that you won't be able to reach if you don't remove the shroud.
Why don't you want to remove the it? I did & it was pretty easy. Go to my page here & look at the album I put up. It has all the steps that I took with pictures.

It is a POS design from a maintenance standpoint but it does provide an added layer and air pocket to keep a bit of heat out of the head. You do have to remove it. It is not hard. This is important and will keep you from pulling your hair out. THE LAST SCREW IS BEHIND THE PORT FRONT SPEAKER! I cannot recall where to get the trucks and tracks. That info is at home. I know they are $$$$$$ pricey! While you have it disassembled, change out everything. Yes pricey, but not worth doing the shroud twice. Your boat is a '97. It's time. That replacement is on my winter list as well. I'll let you know if I find a better mouse trap.

Thanks for that, the photo album helped, I always wonder how to get in there. That is another job to put on the list of things to do.

The parts are available from Teak Isle manufacturing. They are the OEM twice removed! Haha!!
I dealt with Jim Cox there. He was very helpful. I don't recall the exact cost but it wasn't eye popping as far as I can remember, especially when figuring in boat dollars! LOL

Hello Again,
I finally found a 330 that is in great shape and am buying it. Next question is, I need to ship it across Michigan from west to east. Has any one shipped a 330 in MI or elsewhere ? I get 2 different answers about removing the arch/spoiler. I have the specs on the boat and it tells me boat is 13' 1" , Pretty tall with arch in place. If I need to remove the arch, Can it be done pretty quickly ? Any info will again be greatly appreciated.

Still hoping to get some Fall boating in !!

I had mine towed from Lake Erie to Georgian Bay when I bought it and they did not remove anything. The shipping company knew the bridge heights on the route and was not concerned. I think you will find that an experienced boat hauler in your area can tell you when they give you the quote.

I just brought mine back from jersey shore to the finger lakes region in NY and I did not have to remove my arch. I did remove the radar and everything else on the arch as a precaution though. It cleared every bridge I encountered with plenty of room to spare.

Well, I went ahead and removed the shroud cover on the sliding cabin door. It was pretty easy just as you guys said. The worst part was cutting and removing the caulk seal that surrounds it. The trucks and wheels at the bottom are toast. The upper trucks are still in pretty good shape though. I found roller wheels online that will be a better replacement for the original all plastic no bearing wheels. The wheels are made out of nylon and are set in stainless steel bearings with a brass race. I plan on making a set of trucks (4) out of aluminum to accept the new wheels. The door should work great when I'm finished.

Could someone post a link to the thread with the pics for removing the door shroud? This is also on my list and couldn't find the thread. Thanks.

Go back a page or too where thschafer had responded and click his avatar and scroll down to albums.

I would like to know the part numbers to the tracks (Bottom and Top, same?) and trucks or trolleys… anyone?

Rumrunner, FP Marine (Sea Ray Parts) has the tracks and trucks to replace the original equipment (all plastic) with ball bearing type rollers. The top and bottom tracks are different from one another.

First let me say thanks to all the folks' who have taken the time to the post the great information I've read here. I'm looking at 97' 330DA and have read this entire thread. I compiled a page long list of things to check out the boat the next time I go to look at it. I have two question before I do.

1. it has the 7.4 Mercruiser with carburetors, I was really looking for a boat with EFI or MPI. How much down side is there to the carbs?
2. exhaust? "straight side exhausts" or "the combination side and underwater exhaust" does any one know which the 97' has? I heard it coming in to dock and it sounded like straight side exhausts. If it's combination, at speed does it shift to under water?

TIA,
Lew

I have the carbs and have no issues. The MPI perhaps gets a minor better mileage but not worth worriing about. If I leave the boat for a week it takes a couple pumps of the throttles and 3 or 4 seconds and they fire up. If they have only been off a day or so, they fire right up after one pump. I would not worry about carbs vs MPI in my view.

The 97 has the combination exhaust. Side at idle and at higher throttle more goes out the bottom, but some still goes out the side.

If the canvas is bad, you can get a 100% complete set for about $2100 from Great Lakes and its OEM.

Had the cushions reupholstered, finished today.

Now to replace the table and the carpet.

Nice Ian, my carpets and padded fabric areas + mattress have been done and was thinking next year of getting the cushions done. What did you go with fabric wise? Also being in the same area, can you PM me they guys that did it.

Cheers
