Official 330 Sundancer Thread

Lmbrld- I am out of the Rocky River. That sonichub looks great but I just put a new GPS in last summer. In addition to that, I put in my Zune MP3 player mount right at the con for control of audio while driving.
I am interested in mounting subwoofers in the cockpit. Other than a seperate box under the removable seat ( a very nice idea) does anyone have them mounted permanently in their cockpit? if so, do you have pix so I can show my install guy ( if I I ever find one).

I do have a pic from another 330 that I took for my installer. If I don't get it posted soon, PM me. I'm running out to a wake right now.

Edit: Here are the pics. As you see he mounted the sub on the port side fwd of the step/locker. I believe you need an infinite baffle type here but, David from Earmark marine or Hifi can guide you better on this. There are also spacers on the arch to accomodate the depth of the speaker but, Russ Calasant had much nicer ones made and can probably give you guidance on that! Also, If you are looking to add speakers inside of the boat, this fellow had a pair installed on the fwd bulkhead to the outer side of each tambor door. Unfortunately no pics of them as his son was sleeping but they do fit there!!

Here is my 330, a '97 named Troublemaker.

We added a little extension to the canvas this year, so you can sit in the back without hitting your head, but still maintains a "sleeker" look than a full camper back.

We Love the boat and cant wait for launch this year!

I really like your canvas! Very nice. Can you PM me with a ball park on price to do that. Looks like you did the forward and rear. Looks like there are no supports either.

Thanks!!

Thanks for the compliments.

it was done at a shop in Cambridge Ontario called Gary's Custom Marine.... 519 240 3025

He is a funny guy - wont do anything on a sailboat, or any interiors / seating but does a super job.

Our top included new rails and is sunbrella "cocoa"

Has anyone done custom embroidered shirts with an actual embroidered 330DA on them? I was at the Boston boat show and there were a couple vendors that will take a picture of the boat and do a custom job, but I don't remember who they were.

I would like to do a 1/2 dozen or so polo shirts with an embroidered 330 and the boat name on them.

Thanks TD!!!
EXACTLY what I was looking for. I am printing these out. then I take em to my guy and he'll quote me.
Now for the goodies so far:
Alpine CDA-118m Head unit 2 zones capable!!!! Ipod!!! MP3!!!
Alpine PDX 4.1m Amp
JL Audio m10IB5- sub
Put 2 Rockford Fosgate speakers in last year for the crappy outside clarions, but I want to mount 2 more in radar arch and then redo the 2 cabin speakers. I don't have access to them (yet) they look like 6 1/2 elongated. Does anyone know what the standard installs were on the 97 for the Clarion(sux) system?

You're welcome!

The stock cabin speakers are tough to access. If you push up the lens for the flourecent lights, you can see them. I don't know how to get the cloth cover off without breaking them. I saw on another recent thread people with later model 340's were prying them down. I am not comfortable doing that myself. I would love to hear from others that have done it!!! I think the speakers were components, like 5" & 2" but, it's been a while since I looked and can't be sure. I was going to leave those alone and add a pair of 6.5's on the fwd bulkhead!

Hey Todd-
You have the correct location for the 6.5" speakers in the ceiling of the cabin. I replaced my speakers with the JL's and it sounds fantastic. I did not pry down the cloth cover, but instead chose to use my hands and feel for the nuts and the bolts. The exchange was quite simple. The toughest nut was the far port side one, the starboard side went very easy.
Good luck!

That sounds good! Did you access them through the light lens? I seem to remember the windshield wiper motor being an issue on one side. Do 6.5" speakers bolt right up? That would be cool!!

You are absolutely correct! The cabin speakers are accessed through the opaque ceiling light lenses. Since it has been 7 years since I performed the upgrade, if my memory serves me correctly the speakers bolted right in without changing the existing studs. I may have used 2 or three of the bolts, but I was confident they didn't need any more and have not moved since!

Thanks Carped! I will look into that when I get down to the boat. The marina called today. They want to paint the bottom and put me in soon!!

I have opened the flourescent lights and seen those tinny old paper-coned sound destroyers (and craned my neck!). I didn't know their size and was hoping to order replacements BEFORE I cranked my hands out and removed the old ones. Looks like I have to do this anyway before I order them. Oh well, thanks for the info. If anyone has a step by step install cookbook on where and how to mount amplifiers (I seem to remember someone using the aft hanging locker just forward of the rear cabin to mount amps, but also have seen under the setee(!!!!) with a pretty intricate dual amp/dual crossover/line conditioner rig. I am thinking to pre-cut a piece of plywood/melamine and pre-wire pre-mount my amp- then all I have to do is set it up against that forward bulkhead and either screw it to the bulkhead or just prop it with 2-3 pieces of 1x so it cant move. The wireless remotes for the Alpine will make my life easy and I am thinking to put one on the transom!!

Very nice canvas upgrade, exactly what I had in mind for our '96 Dancer. Thx for the pic's, may save me a few bucks at my local canvas shop.

Hey for all you guys that redid your trim tabs,

what were the final dimensions of the trim tabs, any plans?

did anyone think of replacing the tabs with new bennet tabs the 12 inch ones?

What was the approxd total cost of upgrading

thinking about doing this last minute upgrade before I splash

thanks

Larry

Has anyone installed a subwoofer in a 2009 330DA? Where did you mount it, where did you run/mount the speaker cables?

Larry, i posted pic's of my tab mod last spring some time, it's on here somewhere. I added 50% to the total length, kept the inboard angle the same, added a couple of topside stringers for strength. I also added about 5 degrees down angle to the extension, the mod'd tabs work very well.
