Official 330 Sundancer Thread

To all you owners that have inboards, with power steering. Do you find that it helps with the steering noticiably, or is it still a struggle to turn the wheel on plane? I am toying with the idea of adding power steering as a winter project, and would like to know if any one has tried the 330 with and without Power Steering, and if the difference was very noticable. Also has any one added power steering to thier 330?

Was power steering ever an option on the 330's? Mine is hydralic, and does feel a little stiff sometimes. Has anyone priced out what it would take to add power steering?

sorry my bad, hydraulic is what i meant, My 330 has manual steering :(

Manual? Really? I thought hydraulic steering was standard on these models. I am surprised. That wheel must be tough under power. I know mine with hydraulic steering it tough on tighter turns when on plane.

Mine is manual and is stiff if I am not trimmed correctly. When I get the boat in the proper trim, it is smooth as silk. I use the lack of power steering as a tool.

hi anyone who has the cockpit wet bar, what are the dimensions of the sink, I want to add one this winter, while replacing my water heater i put in a t on the cold water line, and ran a line to area where the sink would be amd I capped it off, now want to put in a sink, and of course i forgot to measure what would fit :(

Larry,
I might be heading to the boat tomorrow. I will get the dimensions if I go. I can even measure the cutout size. My sink was siliconed in and it popped off this summer. It's on my list of off season repairs!

Back to the manual vs hydraulic steering. I have the manual steering and I was wondering if anyone else with manual steering gets feed back at the helm? I was under the impression that with hydraulic there is a check valve or something to that effect that stops the helm from feeling pressure. However with the manual I DO feel feedback, mostly when running in a follow sea. Sometimes the wheel will really pull to one direction based on what the swell is doing. Anyway I'd love to know if manual steering with inboards should have this issue or not.

Add to my post. My steering is manual, however it is hydraulic. IIRC, Mrs. Robinson had hydraulic with power assist. That said, it can be done, however since discovering the trim of Saint Max to be in conjunction with the ease of steering at plane, I would be reluctant to add power to my steering. Not that I wouldn't like it, however, the only time I would use it is in very tricky docking situations. At that point, I would just as soon have an Edson "Suicide Knob".

My 2 cents.

New stanchion... Does anyone have any idea where I can order a new stanchion for my bow rail? When I purchased the boat this summer I noticed the starboard side rail was noticably bent. Upon further inspection the upright is actually cracked where it connect to the base.

I would like to replace the upright and rebed it with 5200.

Any thoughts??? Worse case I'll contact Sea Ray and see if they can help out.

Hi All,

First post on the forum after closing on our first Sea Ray this past Friday... A '97 330DA. Needs some cleaning after being dry for a year, but well maintained. A lot of good information on the site that has already helped a great deal as we get our feet wet.

Keep the posts coming as they're all a great learning for a newbies like us.

DR, I'll have to check my slip to see if my '97 SD is still there. Yours looks just like mine 'cept my canvas shows some shrinkage. Have fun!

Google Flounder Pounder Marine. They have a lot of hardware.

Do NOT bed it with 5200. If you ever need to remove it for what ever reason, you will destroy the fiberglass before you ever budge the stanchion.

Does anyone know the height of the 330 from the waterline to the top of the arch???

I'm trying to line up someone to haul me and they need to know that the height of the boat on the trailer will be less than 13'6".

Thanks

David what can you recommend bedding the stantion with besides 5200? I assume I need something a bit stronger than a silicon...?

make sure they have a low-boy trailer , and put the boat in the trailer sitting aft forward, with bow tilting up, this will allow for truck transport without removing arch. I had mine hauled last year, and all i had to remove was radar, and tv antenna

Ippa2, I have sent 33 Dancers transported here in chilly MI with the arch intact. I have the information you are looking for (Height) however it is not with me at the moment. I can scan it and post later today or tomorrow morning. The Information looks similar to the attached (Specific to our 33 Dancer).
