Official 330 Sundancer Thread

Hi all,

Just thought I would add onto the 330 owners list. If you are missing those pesky curtain runners on the tracks for the privacy curtains. Over time ours have come apart and I find the plastic wheels and parts on the floor... Thanks to the children and their gentle handling of the curtains...

Well the wife found and ordered new ones which are an exact replacement.

www.curtain-tracks.com has the part. The part number is 41143. She also ordered new pins to go into the curtain as ours had to have been in there for the better part of a decade!

Just though I would post this up in case you need any..

Thanks!!
Hi - just wanted to double-check the part number. Followed the link to their site and can't find anything with that number. Seems most part numbers are 4 digits long. Tried 4143 and still came up empty. Would you mind double-checking and reposting? Thanks.

These are the ones that I bought:

And here is the Link:

I ended up getting two bags because they are so cheap and I have three young children that can still do some damage!!!

Re: 330 DA Cupholder mod

When you install it, be prepared to be very frustrated putting the bolt on. I did mine through the port side speaker hole. Its a long reach with almost no space. Tie a string to your wrench (you will drop it a few times) and be prepared to tighten it about 1/8th of a turn at a time. It takes patience and a thin arm. My son started mine for me (skinny arms) then I spent about an hour tightening it. Great in the end, but tough getting installed.

I just ordered the Edson. Thanks alot

Microwave Oven Area Modification Question:

I have a 1995 330 Sundancer. My microwave died. Have found that the model I have is no longer being manufactured and exhaustive searching of the internet has yielded many ovens with okay widths and depths but all are too tall for my opening.

Here is my question: When I removed the microwave I was shocked at the incredible cavernous (and wasted) space in that compartment area (what was Sea Ray design thinking?) While staying within the same electrical requirements, I think I will try to put in as large an oven as I can, which will mean modifying the front face of that compartment enclosure. Has anyone done any mods to this area and if so do you have pictures? Any ideas would be helpful.

Also, if you know where I can find a 9.5 inch tall microwave then laziness might win out and I will just replace it with something that will fit as is.

Thanks!

Shower drain is sloooow!

The switch and pump are good. When the pump runs the water leaves the box quickly. That leads me to believe there is fourteen years of hair and stuff in the hose between the shower drain and the sump box. What do I do?

A) Use a plunger and risk blowing the hose off its shower drain connection,
B) Run a snake through the hose and risk a puncture,
C) Pour something caustic down the drain and risk melting the drain hose or,
D) ????????

Thanks for any advise.

I bring in the dock hose and give the drain some blasts,be sure not to over fill the shower box.

That's exactly what I have to do once or twice a year....Works great!

Hi all! I'm new here and I've been reading great posts!

I need some knowleable feedback re the 330 Sundancer:

I'm in the market for a 330. I just love it but I would like to know your opinions regarding performance.

Is it a good offshore boat? How does it handle in rough seas? I'm in southern florida .

Thanking you in advance for any insight.

Are you looking at a 2010 330 or an earlier model? There's a difference between the two since Sea Ray changed the model numbers for 2010.

Can anyone give me directions on how to remove the shelf above the dinette and below the windows? One of my window seals leaked and that shelf disintegrated. Need to get it out, rebuilt, and reinstalled. I dont see any visible screws besides the ones holding the gold trim in place.

Thanks!

Hi Everyone - I just took delivery of our 'new' 1997 330 Sundancer "E-Sea Living" with 7.4 Mercs carburated with v-drives, with apprx 320 hrs. 4.5KW Westerbeke genset with, get this... 27 hrs! Its been tuned up each year despite its lack of use and runs great.

Anyway we spent this past weekend in Oak Bluffs, Marthas Vineyard. I'm still learning things, like how do I get the AC or is it DC lights in cabin to turn on... the "outlet" switch needs to be on! Lots of fun stuff like that. What does the "accessory" panel switch do... the central vacuum I think etc.

Anyway i wanted to post our cruising specs for anyone interested. In calm seas, with full fuel, and 2 people on board I've found that at 3100 RPMs I'm crusing at 20.5-21 knots and 3200 RPMs I'm up to just about 23 knots. Pretty happy with those numbers. Not sure on fuel yet I'm guessing somewhere in high 20's gph. I'll be topping the tanks off soon and see how much I burned running to the Vineyard and back. Anyway glad to be a proud Sea Ray owner! I've already learned a lot on this forum. Its a great resource.

Based on others I know with that setup, the optimum cruise is at roughly 3400 RPM's and 22 knots on slack tide. Anticipate 22GPH if all is well. What is your WOT RPM?

When I sea trialed the boat WOT was 4000. A bit low, but my surveyor, who also inspected the hull, said there was some growth on it, as the PO didn't run the boat a lot. So I was thinking the growth could take a few 100 RPMs off the top end...
Next spring when I launch it I will run it up to WOT and hopefully get at least 4200. I know 44400 is the optimal WOT. If I do have to repitch the props a bit to get that 4400 WOT I realize that will affect my cruising speed RPMs and instead of doing 3250, what I'm doing now, I guess I would be up to 3400 or so, as most people have said. Either way I've been very happy with cruising at 22-23 knots. Seems perfect for the boat.

I find too that around 22-23K is where the boat likes to cruise. I can't really compare RPMs as I have 4 blade props on the boat. So at 3250 I am almost at 25K. I prefer a 21-22K cruise.

Dave is that 22 GPH total or per engine? I seem to get around 29-32 gph at about 23-24K cruise.

I see you have a 10" garmin is that flush mounted? Or is that mounted on the dash in a bracket and your 70L is flush mounted?

Enjoy any other questions let us know. I know I have a lot last year!!!

Take Care!!

Hi Tom,

The Raymarine is flushmounted and the Garmin in a bracket.

I also forgot to mention the previous owner had a Vetus bow thruster installed a few years back. A very nice option, albeit not 100% necessary, but I've found myself in some situations on windy days where it has saved me. Plus coming from a 27' boat the bow on these Sea Rays do tend to get pushed fairly easily by the wind. I need to learn to "play" the wind factor when manuerving in tight quarters.

<"...Dave is that 22 GPH total or per engine? I seem to get around 29-32 gph at about 23-24K cruise....">

Belay that. Had 22 on the brain. That is about what I burn with 6.2's and a clean hull.

They're telling me they burn 1 gallon per statute mile. 25GPH total on average. More if against the tide and less if with it.

Are you riding typically 330 bow high?

Dockside water question... does anyone have it?

Was this an option on the 1995-1999 330DAs? If I have dockside water, I have no idea where the hook up is. Someone told me to check the transom locker. I haven't checked there yet, but I kind of think that maybe this wasn't a standard option. Although it would be a nice touch.

If anyone has added this option I'd love to hear how easy/hard it was to pipe in the dockside water. I'm guessing it shouldn't be too difficult. Hardest part would be cutting a hole through the hull, albeit at least its above the waterline!
