Hot off the press: details re new 2017 350 Coupe for US market http://bit.ly/2ajj4Ib

Ah sweet. I was talking to corporate this past weekend at the Annapolis Reunion and we were discussing this model. I'll be interested to see one up close and personal. I know that talk of coupes (ws. open cockpit) is like talk of democrat vs. republican but I do like them personally. I've been on the Regal 35 and it felt a little too small as a coupe, it'll be interesting to compare that to this new Sea Ray.

Alright... My first post!

we are about a year from purchasing a new 350. Dealer is happy to answer questions, but from car experience over the years, I trust my forum comrades more.... And I find a new question every day! Here are a few if any one gets a chance to chime in:

The Sea Ray website builder lists a $2667 option called "windshield with stainless steel frame". Any idea what that means a la what does it come with if you don't check that box?

Since our budget won't allow for EVERY option, would you suggest Axius & extended swim platform or go with standard power, thrusters, and buy the hydraulic platform?

Is the rear bed room referred to a mid-berth by Sea Ray? Like the mid-berth TV or mid-berth L-shaped seating... They mean the rear area under the stairs? Why not call that the rear berth?

Current cockpit design options are mocha v white. Any suggestions? Or pics?

Digital dash seems the way to go on a new (expensive) boat, but would you also pay $3k for radar? Is this radar for other boats? Or weather? Or both....?

There is a $1025 option for "gel coated dash"? What is that? Do we need it?

If we don't spend the $8167 on "premium" sound what do we get? No stereo? A crappy one?

I see 20 year notes advertised for boat loans. In your experience are these realistic? So many people do 10% down and get a 20 year loan? Or is it bait to get your application in, only to offer something different? Any forum preferred lenders?

I've read about boat loan interest being a deduction similar to a home loan if the boat has bathroom/kitchen/bed. Has anyone explored this?

thanks again, will be more... Happy to be a member!

Lots of points to cover...
Many of the options aren't up sells, they just are stripped out to get the base price down.

Go with V drives and a bow thruster. My first boat was stern drive and the maintenance and headaches are bigger. Axius is great if you have no idea how to drive a boat in close quarters.

Gel coatsed dash is worth it. Cuts down on glare.

The base stereo is likely Sony and crap. I have it on my boat and I'm slowly replacing the system. The transom Sony speakers on my boat have lasted about two seasons per set. The upgraded system also include a subwoofer. If you don't listen to music don't spend the money.

I put a new radars and DTS system in my boat when I bought it. I think any cruiser should have radar, but that me from a safety standpoint.

Rear bedroom? Don't close off any spaces in the 350. It's just not big enough. You don't need this. If you want staterooms look at the 400.

You don't really need the extended swim platform on the 350.

Also, look at what dealers are selling these boats for. Yes the options add up, but the price you see on SeaRays website is nowhere near what you pay. Negotiate negotiate negotiate.

Other things I'd recommend:
Windlass is a must
all chair instead anchor line
remote spotlight
grill (I love my Kenyon grill)

Sea Ray needed to do this to compete with other manufacturers. Step onboard the 400. They did a great job with that boat.

It it will be interesting to see in person.

I have a 2008 Sundancer 330, and the kitchen sink started to leak out the bottom. I took a closer took, and there is a plastic fitting that screws onto the bottom of the sink (with a threaded collar), and the other end is barbed that goes into the drain pipe.

This piece was severely cracked and leaking. I need to order a new one - any ideas where?

I replaced that drain, and also needed to replace that part, found it on the shelf at West Marine.

Yes totally agree on the competition side. They didn't have anything in the mid-thirties that didn't have eisenglass and many others do. I do like the 400 I was on one not too long ago and it feels about right for a coupe style boat, IMHO. The Regal 35SC felt a bit cramped and I'd suspect that the 350 will as well... there is only so much you can do in a 35X12-ish package.

The 400 is a real winner when you look at what SR was able to do within 40'
I was on the boat at its launch last fall and it was side by side with a 470. The 400 felt bigger inside. The flybridge with the hard top was nice as well, but even the non Fly version looked like a great boat.

I'm really interested in a boat that I can take out for a week or on longer cruises and not fry to a crisp in the summer. I'm interested to see the new 450, but I think the 400 will be a better price point for my next boat. PWM has both the 400 and 400Fly in stock if anyone around this area wants to see them.

Beautiful boat. Someone will be very lucky to get it.

We have signed a sales agreement and are going to survey and sea trial next week on a 2009 330DA in Baltimore, so we're hoping all goes well.

In your yachtbroker listing, photo #17 shows a really nice canvas cover over the dash. Is that a factory option, or did you have that custom made?

Thanks, and best of luck with the sale.

That canvas dash cover is the same on my 350. It came from SR.

i just purchased a 2008 330. Im a Bmw rider. Fast car owner. But have never owned a boat. Can anyone recommend a captain and mechanic to show me the ins and outs of this beast? I'm in south florida. Dinner key marina. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to CSR.

I can't make a recommendation for S. Florida, but you are making a good decision. You should hire a captain for a few times out to show you how to handle the boat. I also highly recommend you take a safe boating course. It will teach you the rules of the road.

Another side note, get a Coast Guard Auxillary safety inspection. This is done annually and they give you a sticker to put on the port side of the boat. During the inspection they will go over all sorts of safety info and they can be a wealth of knowledge. This inspection is free.

Do you have v drives or stern drives?

V drives. The broker I was using insisted I go this way because then boat is staying in the water. Seems I made the popular decision. As most people agreed with him.

Especially if you're in salt water it's the way to go. Stern drives are more maintenance.
Once you get the hang of the throttles it's an easy boat to dock.

My first post as a 330DA owner, just closed the deal a few weeks ago.

For those who have the "air compressor (for water toys)" factory option, how well does it work? We're going to need something to inflate a small Zodiac to use as a dinghy, and I'm wondering if this pump can handle it.

Thanks in advance.

Congrats and welcome to the club! our models are some of the best, in my opinion, for the bay. We need some pics and where abouts on the bay are you?

Thanks! We're really looking forward to next season. Should be able to do a bit more cruising than we could on our 225 Weekender. No photos of the boat yet, at least not as "ours." We pretty much bought the boat on its way to winter storage. We kept our previous boat on the Delaware River in Philadelphia. But since I now work in DC and my wife still works in Philadelphia, we're going to try out Baltimore for next season. We found the boat at Harbor East, and we liked the location. Baltimore is a good midway point for us, plus having the train as an option is a huge plus. It take the train between DC and Philadelphia every week, so it'll be easy for me to just get off in Baltimore. We have friends on Kent Island, in Annapolis, an also Cape May, so we'll probably start out around those areas, especially since I'm originally from the NJ shore area. We also want to try out that Hyatt resort farther down the bay.
