Has anyone experienced rain infiltration at the helm? I have rain water running down the starboard side of the helm and down onto the carpet on the floor. I suspected that the caulking along the windshield needed to be replaced but I did that with no apparent reduction. Not sure where else to look. There is no apparent dripping from the canvas.

Thanks for any insight!

Jump Starting the boat

In the spirit of "be prepared", how does one jump start the boat? The manual warns against jumping the boat in the engine room. So how are you supposed to do it? The manual states that the helm cigarette lighter plug has an attachment (and I assume heavy enough wire) to attach a spare battery to raise the hatch. Could I just jump the boat using one of the portable booster packs using this connection point? Seems like that would be a lot of juice going through a cigarette lighter plug... Thanks!

Yes, I have the same problem. The fiberglass section for the helm is set a little lower than the drain/scupper for the rain water. I want to build up the area where the helm meets near the drain but I'm not sure what to use.

Starboard settee

Is the settee cushion on the starboard side supposed to pull out of form another berth? I have pulled on mine a bit and it moves about 2 inches. Is that all the travel that it is supposed to have? Thanks

Yes, it should pull out more than that, and yes, it makes up into a nice berth for taller folks.

Searched the thread and didn't see specifics... I have a 320 and have an opportunity at a 340 zodiac yachtline dinghy. It has a 25hp Yamaha 4 stoke outboard. I would love to install the dingyramp brackets on my platform. I calculate inflatable and motor at 348 lbs. brackets are rated at 400 lbs... I'm probably pushing it, let alone handing over platform by a good 24"... love to hear if anyone has had success with this combination. Thanks in advance

This is a terrible idea. The 320DA is already stern heavy. We have a Mercury airdeck dinghy with a 6hp outboard (~150# for the pair) and it does impact performance. I ended up adding 100 lbs of ballast to the bow under the forward berth. It's redneck and doesn't help with fuel burn but it does work. There is no way I would go any heavier.

Weekend on the ICW in Florida

**Weekend on the ICW **

Looking to head south from Daytona Beach for a long weekend.. Any ideas for good places to stay that are on the water? We've looked around Merritt Island/Cocoa Beach and Melbourne, as that's as far as we want to go.. Any suggestions or tips would be much appreciated!

I would start a new thread - you will get more attention that way - in Canaveral look at the Ocean Club (ocean side of the lock)- really nice transient facility near lots of great restaurants/hang outs (try Grills).....other side (inside) of the lock is ski island a great day anchorage/sandbar - the cheapest fuel is at harbortown Canaveral down the barge canal - not a bad place to stay either - has pool and new restaurant, transient dockage is cheap and there is no current or tide to speak of....Either way Uber into Cocoa Beach, Ron Jons, space center etc.......You could also visit cocoa village by boat or Uber - there is a small marina and mooring field/anchorage.....nice spot with art galleries, restaurants, shops etc........further south in Sebastian is captain Hirams....its a party bar/marina if your into that - take a look at active captain for more ideas and reviews - have fun, take pics and review your trip here for us!

Re: Jump Starting the boat

I have a 2002 320DA. I would like to remove the wall cushions by the forward berth to have re upholstered. Does anyone know how to get them off he wall? Is it a major process? Also any suggestions on where to buy a new cover, sheets, etc for the bed cushion? Thanks

I added some LED lights to the cockpit, and fixed the bathroom lights with LED.

Does anyone know the steering ram capacity for the 320. I'm looking at installing a Raymarine auto pilot?

Radio Speakers Suddenly Not Working

Hi guys. I need some help with my radio speakers. The four speakers up on the back deck did not work today when we arrived. The sub-woofer works. I tried all the usual things.....reset the Clarion head, shut down all power including battery feed and restarted, reset the settings in the radio for setting the low pass filter on the radio. The speakers below at the V-birth work fine. I also checked the Front / Rear split for audio feed. Nothing....notta ....no sound out of any of the 4 speakers .

When I pulled the salon seat to look at the amps I was surprised to find two large power amps and four smaller power amps. The power light was on for the two large ones but no indication of power to the four smaller ones. I'm sure there is a fuse inline from the radio head to the power amps but I cannot seem to find it. It is such a mess of wiring behind the radio head at the power panel. This acts like a fuse but who knows. All four small power amps would not go at once.

Does anyone know exactly where the fuses might be from the radio to the power amps for me to start looking. Also is there an easy way to get behind the radio. When I take the screws out and start to pull the radio to see behind it wants to pull all the wiring out which would create a new nightmare.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Clarion Power Amps (2)
Can't remember the brand of the 4 smaller amps that run from the two larger ones.

Thx

Re: Engine hatch maintenance

Need help with something should be easy...maintenance of hydraulics for engine hatch. Look through manual for my 2006 320 Sundance, but could not find anything related to hatch cover. Base has a grease fitting, and assume I need to grease periodically. But would like to know type of grease amount and frequency. Any thoughts.

Re: Engine hatch maintenance

Has anyone installed an EV-200 auto pilot on their 320? I am wondering if I could mount the acu and the sensor in the locker under the helm seats. If not any suggestions where they could be mounted?

Hey MikeBravo, I've got the same Auto Pilot on my 2004 320da and they're both mounted at the back of the locker under the helm seat, like you mentioned. The display is between the wheel and the shifters. I've used it a couple times along with radar, so I could avoid random islands in the channel and it worked well. Best of luck to ya and keep us posted to how it works out for you.

Re: Engine hatch maintenance

Hey StSomewhereII,
can you make out the make and model on hydraulic lifter? If so, you should be able to find their recommended maintenance on their website. Lot of variables based on the type of water you keep your boat in and temp/humidity in that area. But since it's covered, I'd say once at the start of the season and once 2/3 the way through should cover it. They don't get used often, but still good to keep them from becoming dry and noisy.
