Official 320 Dancer Thread

Currently negotiating on a new 320 a used 340 and a used 310. Leaning toward the new 320. Share the good bad and the ugly.

What would you change on the 320? Any regrets?
Got a beautiful 340 that I am looking to get out of at a good price! :) Rob Be happy to share pics and specs!

Thanks Jim!

That's exactly the charger I want to get but I was uncertain that I could go to 40 amp version. The Promariner Manual calls for a 15 amp AC breaker and minimum 14/3 wire to supply the charger. From the Sea Ray manual (don't have access to boat in winter), the breaker currently supplying the charger is shown to be 10 amps with 12/3 wire. The wiring seems fine but the breaker seems undersized. There's 50 amp DC breakers and #8 cable out to each bank of batteries so that should be fine. Have you ever blown a breaker?

I would like the 40 amp to speed recharging from the genny as you mentioned. I'll give Pro-mariner a call.

Thanks again!
Paul

I have had my 320 since 1/2007 so probably not in the market for a 340

I have an 8'6" Achilles with a 2.5HP Suzuki outboard. I could easily have more weight on my platform, as this combination cant exceed much over 100 lbs. I find the 8'6" dingy to be a bit small for my usual passenger load of 4, but nice for 2. The next time out I would get a 9'6" and 4-5 horse motor. I don't run davits right now, I just drag it onto the swim step and tie it down, but I like the H2o style or Nautley as an option and might go that route myself this season. Those style davits do not add much weight, whereas some of the other stuff out there does, which is going to limit your dinghy and motor size more.

I would only suggest keeping the dink around or under 10', and the motor 8 hp or less, the 320 is not a big enough boat for much more than that. IMHO you really don't want a massive dink and motor hanging off the back of your not so massive boat. Just looks funny.

This is my first time posting a question so I hope adding on to the thread is the right way vs starting new. We bought our first boat last summer, 2007 320 Sundancer. Now looking to add a dinghy and davit system. I’ve been searching for answers/advice on size and type. I recently contacted Sea Ray and they suggested not exceeding 250lbs on the swim platform as well as looking into what owner experts have to say on Club Sea Ray.

For the dinghy I’m considering an AB Lammina 9.5’ (~95-115lbs). For the davit I’m looking at two types. The Hurley marine H2O or H3O http://www.hurleymarine.com/Davit_Directory.html or Nautley Dinghy Ramp HD+ http://www.dinghyramp.com/dinghyramp-hd-roll-on-boat-lift for setups that store the dinghy flat on the swim platform during operation. I’m also looking at the Olsson Mfg. ST-275 http://www.boatdavit.com/Products/Details/2 that holds the dinghy at a slight angle. Not perpendicular to the platform which I have been told to avoid.

So I’m looking for insight from 320 owners regarding dinghy size and experience/technical knowledge (e.g. issues like disrupting exhaust flow, drag...) on the orientation by which the davit stores the dinghy while traveling.

Hope this is not too much for a beginner, but look forward to and appreciate all the help I can get.

Thanks Jim!

Paul,
I did not change any wiring or breakers. It was out with the PD2030 and in with the 1240P. I have not had any problems thus far.

I will say though, that I rarely let my batteries get drawn way down, and watching the amp reading on the front of the charger, i've rarely if ever seen it pumping a full 40 amps. Most times it starts out at a high number when it turns on, and quickly drifts back down into the 20-30 amp range... and then the amp input slowly drops off as the batteries get recharged.

Hello,
I would like to replace the impellers on my 350 mags, does anyone have the OEM Mercruser part # for the kit and recommendation on where to buy them?
It's going on three years and don't want to push my luck any longer, had one go out before:smt018

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff
Did mine last year. I have the link saved on my laptop at work. Will try to get it for you tomorrow.

In the meantime, where on Lk Mich are you guys? I'm interested in going with the camper style canvas. Yours looks like a pretty nice job. We're out of Grand Haven. I'm interested in knowing who did the work if you have that info?
Thanks
Greg

Greg...mind sending me the link also? We are in Muskegon. Our canvas, replacing everything. Adding a complete screen enclosure, etc. is being done by White Lake Canvas. Great guy, his work is top notch. Drop me a PM if you want his contact info.

I don't mind at all. I bought them online. I'll post the website and part# on the thread.

Yes, please pm me his info.

BTW, my Dad lives on Lake Bella Vista. Rockford is a great place to be from.

Ok, here's the link:
http://www.boats.net/parts/search/M...U 0M398371/SEA WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY/parts.html

These guys have great prices, but aren't always the fastest. #2 &#3 on the diagram. If you've done this before, you know that this job is not fun. I didn't even question getting new o-rings for 3 bucks. Part numbers listed below. I have 350 horizons. Please confirm your engine serial number falls inside the listed numbers at the top of the page.
Thanks for the info on White Lake Canvas. I'll drop them a call. Do you have any pics of your canvas? I think Jeff's on No Regrets looks real nice.

Greg,
thanks for the parts info, I'll look into that. I had a mechanic do my port side (the harder of the two) and I did the other a few years ago. No it is not fun but I'd rather do it now instead of waste boatin time.

I had Luker Custom Canvas do my work, they are in Monague, MI but do a lot of work in the Grand Haven area.

We slip at Keenan Marina but my boat is inside heated storage. if you want a closer look at it send me a PM and Maybe we could hook up some weekend I'm out there working on it most weekends.

I just spoke with White Lake Canvas.
Even though I am hundreds of miles away, he was very!! helpful!!
I would endorse him for any canvas work to be done in his area of Michigan.

I would love to take a closer look, but the heated storage at Grand Isle closes by noon on sat. Therefore, we only work on the boat when we can find a free week day. I will contact Luke though. Thanks for the info!

I have a new Black cockpit cover made by Great Lakes Canvas (OEM supplier to SR) for your 320 sundancer. I bought it from a fellow CSR member last year but found out that it doesn't fit my 2003 SR moved the forward snaps from the deck to the windshield sometime after my boat was made. I installed the snaps that mount to the transom but the rest of the cover is snapless.. I do have all of the snaps you will need in a bag. Send me a PM if you are interested. Make me an offer.

I just had a Canvas Co. give me a quote for a camper canvas coming off of my soft top all the way to the aft, with 30 ga. isinglass inserts all the way around, and an optional screen to zip into the rear. Including all of the hardware and labor, and cutting out for the extra supports for the bimini on my cockpit cover.Price is $2540.00.
Also having them make a complete front bra canvas to the windshield for $960.00

Does anyone know either the part number(s) or where I may find the
stainless exhaust "flapper" and rubber boot or bushing that hold the flapper in?
2005 320 SunDancer, inboards v-draives
