Official 320 Dancer Thread

We looked at both but went with 2006 320. Primary reason, of the boats available, 320 was in primo condition, low hours, mainly fresh water and option we wanted. Color, V-Drive, heat exchange and flush out for manifolds and risers. Couldn't tell that much different in over space for the difference in price. Really love our 320. Great boat to have in the Low Country of South Carolina.

Thanks for the replies! We put in an offer and it was accepted!! Now we are waiting on the surveyor's report and if all is well, we'll have her home in 2 weeks.

One other questions for the group: we are not mechanically inclined.. so will need to have her serviced by the Searay dealer nearby. Is the maintenance on the engines an issue since they are so close together? Seems like it would be impossible to work on parts of one without taking the other apart... any thoughts?? We don't want to get into a boat that is going to have higher-than-normal costs due to the placement of the engines.

Thanks all!

Congrats! I think you made the right call. 800 hours on a 9 yr old boat IS a lot for gas engines. Even well maintained ones. But that's my perspective, here in MD, where boating season is 7 months long or so. I suppose that might not be high in FL where you can boat year round. The rule of thumb I learned (for this region) is "average" use is about 50 hrs a year; over 100 is high. Obviously, your mileage may vary.

Good luck on the survey!

Are you getting the engines surveyed by a mechanic? And don't forget to have the oil tested. The first boat I almost purchased, a regal with Volvo engines, passed every test except the oil analysis came back with a ton of sodium(salt water in the oil). I backed out, and found my Sea Ray.

We added camper top with side and aft and transom panels with screens last year. Eisenglass in these panels unzips and can roll up. Acts like a screen porch and we love it. This allows the boat to be used comfortably year round here in Charleston, SC. My canvas guy adapted my other canvas to work around my SS support the camper top. Gives me a lot of options. Like to leave the camper with panels in cooler months. Take down the front visor and side and aft panels in warmer months put on cockpit cover. Quick to get off the dock. Leave the camper top up. Wife likes the shade. Feel the camper top and side and aft screened panels good addition .

anyone have a list toward starboard one hook or at the dock. with full fuel tanks , water tank full and waste empty no water in bilge. minimal supplies it leans about 1" more toward starboard. cant figure it out. drilled a hole under starboard fuel tank stringer the lowest point in the bilge. expecting to see water pour out. It was bone dry.I get 5000 rpm out of my motors at full throttle with full fuel. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks mike

Anyone ever used SEM (or other) vinyl paint on any of the cockpit seating?? If so, how did it turn out and what color matches the sea ray "white" vinyl??

I notice the same. Also notice the less fuel and water I have onboard the more it levels out.

Just did the maiden voyage of our new Sea Ray 320! We are thrilled to say the least! Sailed her from Jacksonville area all the way to Daytona Beach - around 5 hours with 1 stop for lunch. Fantastic! Proud to be part of this group of 320 owners!

Got a question: the boat came with the Smartcraft Systemview SC5000 but I'd like to change/upgrade to the VesselView system. Any one know if this is possible? And if so, can you just swap out the screen without changing the cabling? Reason for the upgrade is the screen is burnt out on the Systemview and I can't seem to find a replacement (I assume it's no longer produced) so was looking to upgrade. Clearly I am not keen to replace the entire system if possible...

Thanks and glad to be part of the group!

When we bought our 2007 new, the Smartcraft was faulty, so the dealer replaced it with Vesselview. I can't tell you how easy or hard the job was, but it was done.
Mike

I am going to follow this advice. Put glass up front only in winter, or rainy days, leave shade up year round, no u zippers on front. Now I just need to get my port engine working again!! Low block PSI fault #3... when RPMs go above 1k. I have the cockpit cover, I will use that if storing for > week to keep soot out of the cockpit. How many pieces do you have in between windshield and Bimini, 5 like the mfg, or something less with a custom cut?

Brown Eyed Girl - 2007 Sea Ray 320 Sundancer, 350 MAG MPI V-drive

Hello Todd,

I am located across the bay from you. Just brought a 2011 350 Sundancer. Plan to get new canvas soon. Let know what you did for your canvas. I think that I need full canvas for our summer rainy season where in rains (pours) nearly everyday for two - three months.

I am calling today to order just the shade portion, and forgo the visors between the windshield and the top for now. We decided that when it is cold, I am fine driving with warmer clothes and sitting down, the windshield diverts the cold air over the top of my head. (And it doesn't get that cold down here!)
As far as rain goes, typically in Florida the rain stays and stops within 30 minutes, so we would just have to wait it out. If this causes us issues during the summer, we will spring for the full enclosure at that time.

I talked to a canvas guy last week; his recommendation was to just do the camper top for shade and not do the rear side and panels in eisenglass. He told that many of his clients in Florida do not use the side panels when out on the water and why spend the money for eisenglass if you are not going to use it. About the rain, he told me that the boat can handle being wet. In Florida it is sun that does the damage to boats. And according to him, covers for when the boat is stored on a lift would be a good investment.

Hello all, been lurking here for a while as I boat shopped. Really appreciate all the tips and info from experienced owners. I just came across a 2004 320, 285 engine hours on 350 MAG MPI v drives, FWC, colored hull, fairly new canvas, new bottom paint, full maintenance records. Salt water Florida boat. Service tech (a friend of mine) says the boat is due for manifolds and risers. Owner is asking 70K. I would like opinions from the group on the pricing. NADA for this boat "clean" is 80, but I know NADA can be misleading. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Have it surveyed. If in deed it is due for anything, use the certified survey to assist with negotiating the price down. Bought our 2006 340 last season. Survey indicated some issues needing correction, seller agreed to discount them of the asking price. Ended up with a really nice boat at a really nice price that was mechanically sound and safe. But still be prepared for (surprise) issues. Haven't seen a used vessel yet that didn't have any.

$70K for a 2004 320 with V drive a FWC engines sounds to me a very good deal even if you have to spend some money on it. In my area they go for mid $80s and RWC.

Where's your area? I need to make sure to market mine in your area when I'm ready to move up!

Hey Lollygagger... nice boat! Remarkably similar to ours  We just got her 2 weeks back and have 2 outings on her already - a 5 hour ride from Jacksonville to Daytona Beach and then a day out at sea. We absolutely love our boat!

Any great tips you can offer on keeping her in ship-shape? (pun intended)

Thanks!

I paid 79k for my '04 320 in flawless condition with v-drives and 300hs on the engines, BUT that was 3 years ago (LI NY).

My suggestion is read this thread from the top. Read the 280, 290, 300, 310 and 340 threads. Read the tech forums too. Lots of discussions about care and maintenance all over these pages!

Hello, I am considering buying an '04 320. The SmartCraft unit on the dash is getting & displaying data but will not scroll the various pages. Is it toast? Can it be replaced in kind? What are the upgrade options? From the Pacific Northwest. Thanks
