Official 290 Sundancer Thread

That's exactly what I said! I was glad to ask before I tore it up trying to remove the whole thing.

ok... next question... because I know this isn't as easy as the last one! :smt038
I want to mount my ipod nano by the helm somewhere and run the wire to the plug in the cabinet there by the stairs. Since there's no access to the back of the dash I can't tell which way the wiring runs. It looks like it goes down and aft into the engine compartment and across then forward into the cabinet... maybe? So... to keep the signal loss to a minimum I need the shortest wire possible... that route looks like at least 15'. Anyone run a wire from the dash to the electrical cabinet via shortcut?

Sorry, I missed that question. I'm going to install an ipod port on the port side in the cockpit this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.

This weather is killing me here... non-stop wind and rain on the weekends... then nice during the week :smt089
I saw a thread on underwater lighting and it made me think... what do the lights under the swim platform look like at night? I still haven't had a chance to really use them other than in the boathouse and it's too close to the walkway to tell anything...
Do they just reflect or do they light the water up?

My stock ones light up the water depending on clear it happens to be. They're basically car headlights. I think they are serviceable but for the cost I wouldnt add them after the fact. I'd go the LED route.

They're already there... just wondering what they look like turned on. My buddy had blue underwater lights installed on his 340... they look great!

Well, how about this . . . Chevy using one of our 290's on their website being pulled by a gas powered 2500. Hmm . . . But something is not right with that waterline stripe. Maybe photoshopped.

That is TOO FUNNY!!!! Because that set up is NOT street legal!

You are certainly right on the stripe...if that's paralled to the waterline, that boat's got problems!!!!

My god, quote from Great Lakes is $930. That seems ridiculous for a cockpit cover. I'm gonna look local.

Bill,

That sounds about right. I had a friend get one of these covers made for his 300DA, and he paid $800 cash.

My cover goes over the windshield, and I do love it! It is a lot of sunbrella canvas, so that is probably about half the cost (just for material).

I have seen these very rarely on E-Bay, and when they do, they quickly bid up to nearly $400 or $500.

Think so? It looks pretty close to me... I think it's just the swoopy rub rail that makes it look 'off' from that angle... or my eyes are bent... and bloodshot

Yep, you're right on the water line stripe. Looked out of whack to me but I've seen my boat from other angles and its not an illusion.

So, what is the towing capacity on the 2500HD with the gas engine?

New member and new SeaRay owner. I'm looking for a few things if anyone can provide some guidance. First I'm looking for stock replicated decal kits or vendors. I am also trying to find (2) of the push/pull locking handle assemblies on the interior cabinetry of my 1998 SeaRay 290 Sundancer. If I looked the part up correctly it's 0761429. They no longer lock and I took them apart to find it's simply one tiny piece of plastic that failed.

Lastly, curious if anyone can recommend easily fitting replacement stereo equipment for my boat. The 4 Clarion speakers in the cockpit are shot and I'd like to upgrade to something better as well as a different deck with iPod inputs. I've looked around and I know a little about stereo equipment but I'd be curious to know if anyone has upgraded the stereo in this boat and what their experience was. Thanks.

Hi - I just joined the forum. I have owned my 1998 290DA since 2007. I have been boating on Lake Michigan in Chicago (DuSable Harbor) since 2000, but I was relocated to Los Angeles by my employer ... so I had my 290DA trucked across the country to California and I now have it in Marina Del Rey, CA. We just took our first long cruise over Memorial Day weekend to Catalina Island. What a difference between Lake Michigan and Santa Monica Bay! (for example being surrounded by 20+ dolphins as we cruised out of Avalon at about 22kts).

Has anybody else relocated their Sea Ray from fresh to salt water? Besides changing the anode types, anything else I should be thinking about?

Thanks!

Patrick

Hey... I'm not at the boat and I can't find the info... what size is the stock (plow) anchor on our 290s... is it a 22... 25?
I'd like to get a Delta stainless unit if they're not too expensive.

When do you need to know by? I'll be at my boat for a little bit this afternoon.

Fellow '06-'08 290 owners:

As I've mentioned before, one of my biggest (albeit minor) complaints about our boat is the lack of a longer port lounger connecting to the aft bench as mentioned here:

http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28255

(Well, that and the lack of a choice of 350 mags for power).

So, today I contacted the company that SR uses for its cockpit seating manufacturing. Crane Interiors for some help in maybe fabricating a seat for me or even supplying me with the vinyl to do so myself. Surprisingly, their "customer service" (I use that term loosely) was less than helpful. Only got a short and curt email response. "We only fabricate for manufacturers." Ok, how about sell me some vinyl? "No." Ok, time to move on.

Just happened to drive by Creative Mobile Interiors off I-71 just south of Columbus by pure chance.

Stopped in. Met with the president of the company. What a GREAT group of people! Got a quick tour of some amazing work on motor coaches being done.

They are completely on board with making this cushion for me. Once they get the template they gave for me to cut and a sample of the vinyl (I'll probably take my little aft bench seat) they will give me a price quote. Once they have that they are willing to make them for others who may want them.

My thought is to try and get a group buy? Who else would be interested if the price is right. He saw pics of my boat and was confident they could make it look OEM with matching vinyl and piping.
