Official 290 Sundancer Thread

Did you get to see the pics, Groucho? I took a couple of mine but they show the same as Shark's. Let me know if you need me to upload or e-mail you them. As shown in his pics, there is no "trim" around the fridge - just a cutout in the glass. The fridge pieces appear (to me) to be the same on both the cockpit and below at the galley.

Yes, I did get the pic's Thanks....After talking to SR it appears if the boat isn't ordered with the fridge, they make the opening bigger and finish it off. Looks like I'm going to have something made...as I can't return the fridge now. I guess I'll try and make it work.
Thanks again!

Can anyone give me an estimate of what it is going to cost to replace our canvas with installation? Complete camper canvas. Mid-atlantic states. Does anyone have any recommendations on an installer?

Santa left me a west marine GC - and I am in the market for a grill. Any suggestions on where to mount the grill? Pedestal? Has anyone used mounting brackets on the bar across the transom locker? Anyone put it on the bow?

I ended up installing the mount...It kinds looks like a flying saucer..on the swim platform on the port side. Seems to be the best place for what we do. There has been some who mounted on the starboard side on the outside of the arch as well.

Ok so I tried opening my engine hatch today and nothing. All other electronics working fine. Pulled the pin from the hatch lift actuator and was able to open the hatch manually with some heavy lifting. Checked the breaker on the aft EIM and that seemed ok. There is also a small fuse on the hatch actuator lockout and it looked fine. I hear the relay clicking when toggling the switch up and down. The motor does nothing - even without load. Have any of you had issues with the hatch? Any troubleshooting tips appreciated.

Mine is mounted with on the aft port corner via the small rod(?) mount. I grill from the swim platform.

Stupid question... Was the cockpit door closed?

Problem solved - isolated the issue to the magnetic switch for the transom door. As long as the switch remains in the open position, the engine hatch wont move. Anyway, will be ordering a new switch next week. Installation should be a five minute job.

Take some pics when you do? That will help others out in the future.

Pics? How big is it? If it is rather small and skinny, it may be one of the two roof window covers to provide privacy. Or it may be one of the cushions that make up the v-berth/couch.

We need more info to help you out.

From your description, it sounds like a pad that is used when laying down the couch into a bed. Is it about an inch thick and the same material as the fabric? It doesn't serve much purpose but you lay it at the top/head of the bed.

Just received my new cockpit cover from GreatLakes. Looks like I am going to need to put the snaps and fasteners on myself. Has anyone done this self-installation? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a Press N Snap tool on the internet to install snaps on my new snap in carpet recently. Its expensive at $125, but it made installing the snaps so easy, and I will always have it for canvas and other snap areas. I would not try to install snaps any other way after using this thing.
