Official 280 Sundancer Thread

I don't think I have the pressure switch on my boat, but it's a 2003. The other thing to try is to take a real close look at all the fittings. Make sure they are all seated properly. I don't know if you have the same Seatech fittings as my boat, but I replaced all around the hot water heater with brass fittings. You can see before and after at this link: http://s1357.photobucket.com/user/DanTheSaxman1/library/?sort=3&page=1

I have to agree with checking the fittings first, especially on the suction side. When I purchased my boat the pump would run constantly and the water pressure was pretty decent at the faucets. I also had no water leaks. It turned out the suction hose was not seated all the way into the fitting on top of the water tank. This caused the system to suck in a small amount of air and the pump would not make enough pressure to trip the switch. This was probably caused by the marina when the previous owner had the boat winterized. I believe they disconnected the water system at this location to push the antifreeze through.

Yea I'll take a look at both items but I would think the faucets would be spitting air if I had a suction leak, I know my motor home spits air if the water tank gets too low. Thanks for the help.

Can anyone with a 2005 or so 280da with the blue and silver stripes and navy blue canvas tell me what color stitching is used on the foldable back seat back rest and the cushion near the cabin door. I'm having my back rest re-done and the stitching is faded so I can;t tell the original color. I told them to make the stitching silver since it would match the boot stripe. A couple friends said it's probably a tan color but that doesn;t make sense.

Mine is a 2005, blue hull, blue and silver stripes and navy blue canvas and interior is "Int. C. Admiral - Sandstone" as written on the invoice.

PO didn't have cockpit cover and until I bought for 3.5 years boat stayed with bimini top under the sun year round. The stitchings was faded, light bluish to whitish colored but now turned to dirty white.

Here some pics of mine.

HTH.

Hey guys!

I am planning on purchasing a 2005 280da with twin 4.3L mpi motors. Was wondering if someone could share some info related to their fuel consumption. I did some searching and could not find a concrete answer.

Thanks in advance!

From memory most people report the Twin V6 and V8 models get 17-20GPH at normal cruising speeds 30-35mph. Unless you are going from point A-B at one constant speed, those GPH numbers are pretty much out the window and you will be all over the place. At what speeds are wanting fuel consumption for? Just putting around neither do bad at all. If you do some google searches with keywords on this site you will dredge up A TON of previous discussion about V6 vs V8 engine packages on the 280DA and most of those discussions include fuel data.

With twin 4.3 efi, mfi should be a fraction more economical) I get from 60 to 120 litres an hour. I too looked for figures before I bought it but now I have it and have fitted fuel flow computer's I see it can vary a lot depending on load and conditions.

i have a 2008 280 dancer and my micro wave died i cant seem to find one that fits has anyone found one?

I had the same set up in a 2004 280. Had smart gauges. As long as you are on plane and not WOT plan on getting 1.3 mpg. You can get 1.4 if you are pretty light and trim the boat up properly. I experimented with all sorts of power combinations and found GPH burned varied a lot (8.5 GPH to 13 GPG per side) - but mpg were always the same. Going faster and burning more GPH got you to your destination faster so trip time was less. Total fuel burn was the same.

RPM MPH GPH MPG
1000 5.5 2.6 2.1
1500 7.5 4.2 1.8
2000 9.6 7.6 1.3
2500 12.7 12.0 1.1
3000 23.0 14.2 1.6
3500 31.1 18.0 1.7
4000 35.7 21.0 1.7
4500 40.0 29.4 1.4
4900 42.3 33.6 1.3

the MPG is roughly the same at 1500, 3500 and 4000 RPM. So, avoid 1600 to 2900 RPM

Hi There,
I was wondering if anyone knew were i could source a replacement finger kit for a lofrans windless progress 1, all the information i have found so far is they have stop making them. Is there some sort of conversion kit?

Thanks Melida. Mine were faded too thus the question. I'm having them re-done in a silver stiching. Blue would fade and the silver will match my boot stripe.

Sure but it will be a little bit. The boat is covered and I tore apart my kitchen last Thursday. I'm spending every free minute to get the sheetrock back up so I have a working kitchen again. It's tough with no kitchen and a 4 year old.

Thank you! That is exactly what I was looking for!

I ordered new "track" for the valances that the Bimini and Sunshade canvas attaches to. Has anyone else replaced theirs? The track currently on the boat has warped, I suspect from heat, and will not hold the welting into the track. I plan on replacing it this weekend and was wondering what type of sealant I should use for the screws. I want to replace this before I install the new canvas I got for Christmas. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

For that location I would use something that has UV Protection such as 3M 4000UV or comparable product in another brand.

What is the best caulk to re-caulk the seams between radar arch and boat.

Well, I got both the Bimini and Sunshade tracks removed and cleaned all the old double stick tape residue removed today. Holy s&*t that took forever. Going to try and install the new track tomorrow. I hope I can get it to bend into the shape it needs to be in. I did get the 4000UV.
