Official 280 Sundancer Thread

do those have any snaps?

They should have the templates for the cockpit of your '01 and they also work off of user created templates for custom work like below. I had covers made for my cabin entry steps

Can anyone with a 2005 or so 280da with the blue and silver stripes and navy blue canvas tell me what color stitching is used on the foldable back seat back rest and the cushion near the cabin door. I'm having my back rest re-done and the stitching is faded so I can;t tell the original color. I told them to make the stitching silver since it would match the boot stripe. A couple friends said it's probably a tan color but that doesn;t make sense.

Unless I'm not following what you're asking, the stitching is white. It's probably just dirty (stained). That's not to say that you don't keep your boat clean, but the stitching always seems to get dirtier, faster, than the vinyl and is harder to clean. It's not abnormal for it to get a yellowish/tanish appearance.

Yes the boat stays clean. I'm talking about the SR logo that's stitched in the back rest.

Ah. I thought you were referring to the actual seat stitching. In that case, I'm not sure. I believe SR stopped using gold by your year, but I'm not sure. If not, then (if memory serves....) it was a silver color. Are you having the aft seat & bucket seat redone, too? In that case, do whatever color you want to. I just redid my entire cockpit and I had the "swoopy" areas (next to he cabin door, the top of the captain's seat and the aft bench seat) done in a light graphite (silver/nickle) color with the "Sea Ray" stitching in barely-off-white color.

I had the foldable rear seat totally rebuilt last year using starboard. The wood was starting to rot. This year was planned for a few cushions but will only do the back rest. I wanted to do the one closest to the cabin door (backrest) but you have to remove quite a bit of headliner in the cabin to get it off so I decided to wait until nest year and do all the front cushions. I wanted to stay closest to factory since I'm not doing them all at once. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, you're not kidding about that. I had pretty much the entire mid-cabin apart and 1/2 of the main cabin. What a mess it was!

That's when I decided it could wait until next year. :smt001 I'm getting ready to tear my house apart for some remodeling and I didn't feel like having the boat ripped apart too.

The color is silver or gray, depending on how you classify colors. Mine is still in good shape. I also bought a pre-stitched piece on vinyl with the logo (Sea Ray surplus) "in case I ever needed it" so I have a new one too.

Just a tip- You may want to go ahead and have your seat person set aside enough vinyl to do all your seats now so all the vinyl used is from the same dye lot. I know it may not make much difference being white but I have seen boats where the color matched but the "grain" (if you want to call it that) of the vinyl did not match between pieces since it came from different lots.

FYI----If I ever need to have my seats re-done, I will consider going with the later style of upholstery design SR used in the 2008 and 2009 280DA. It is still a white primary seating surface but the top and lower pieces are tan with the Sea Ray logo in brown. I think they look a lot nicer than the all white and have a more modern look. You may want to PM Tonka Boater. He might be able to post some pics of what his seats looked like. Those seats along with new deep pile, dark earth tone cockpit carpets they use now could give your boat a nice look.

Update- Here is a pic I pulled off the web.

I agree.....this is what I would do if I were to do mine over. I don't keep the carpet in so my boat is a sea of white. It would be nice to add some contrast.

Those do look nice but I had my foldable seat complelety rebuilt last year and we stayed with the OEM look. Had I done all of them at once I would have gone that route. Hopefully I will only have this boat another couple of years before I move up in size.

Hello to everyone in the thread, just bought a 2007 280DA used in Maryland and brought it down to Cape Coral Fla. The boat didn't come with a manual so I downloaded the supplemental manual but have a few things I still don't understand. First the fresh water pump seems to run all the time when turned on from the dash. I've checked and can't see any visible leaks nor does any water accumulate in the bilge, but I had expected the pump to turn off after pressurizing the system like they do in motor homes. All the air is out of the system and water tank is full. I can hear the pump load up after you turn the faucet off, but it continues to run Do I have a bad pressure switch (I don't see one on the wiring diagram)?

Congratulations on the new boat and welcome to CSR. My 280 started it's life in Jacksonville, and wound up in frigid CT, with a 3 year stop at the Jersey shore. Funny how boats criss-cross the country.

Personally, I'd just replace the pump. That pump is likely the original and they don't last forever. Cheap enough to replace, and even if it doesn't fix the problem you know you will have years of good service with the new pump. Amazon is a good source for a new pump, believe it or not. You might want to replace the batteries also, especially if they are more than a few years old. I've had good luck with Costco marine batteries.

I disagree. I wouldn't just change out the pump without knowing for sure that's the problem. The pump has a pressure switch on it that can be adjusted. You may even try to "whack" the top of the pump and see if it dislodges some sediment that may be stuck. Also, look at the toilet and see if it's holding water.

i was with you right until you mentioned water in the toilet. isn't checking for water in the bowl a check for a vacuum leak?

It's a little like stiff steering. You mess with the power steering pump and other related pieces and in the end a new cable fixes the problem.

But it's a 2007 boat. I'd agree if it was much older. I sure hope those pumps last longer than that.

Yea I hope the water pumps last longer than that, the one in my 2000 Bounder motorhome is still going strong. Sounds like I need to take a look at the pressure switch then, I assume it's mounted either on the pump or nearby. What confused me was the electrical schematic in the supplemental owners manual where it doesn't show any shutoff switch. Any hints on where to get the full owners manual (gen set, waste system etc). The supplemental manual keeps referring to the owners manual but it (the supplemental manual) is the only manual available to download at Searay.com. On another subject I have a Kohler gen set and the model number looks to be 5ECD but when I go to the Kohler site I don't see any such number. I'm looking for the manual on that also.

I don't think I have the pressure switch on my boat, but it's a 2003. The other thing to try is to take a real close look at all the fittings. Make sure they are all seated properly. I don't know if you have the same Seatech fittings as my boat, but I replaced all around the hot water heater with brass fittings.
