Official 280 Sundancer Thread

Has anyone found the light bulb for over the galley. Not the 12 volt one but the 110v bulb? Looking for a place online to order it. Mine never had it. Also looking for the bulbs for the swivel reading lights in the berths.

Looked all over for it (Lowes, HD, online) and wasn't able to source it. Ended-up ordering three from my local Marinemax dealer.

Hello my fellow 280 owners. As I’m new to the 280 and am in the nesting phase, where do you put your stuff on the 280. I know there are different preferences, but I’d like to know how everyone stores various items on the 280. Where is the best place to keep life jackets? Where is the best place to keep deflated floats? Where is the best place to keep the canvas during cruising? Also, I moved her into the slip tonight –this is going to take some practice, think I’ll take the day off work tomorrow and practice. Maiden voyage will be Saturday if the winds don’t pick up.

Storage space is an issue with most boats and certainly the 280. I've tried to make the best use of every storage location available and 'invented' 3-4 new ones. Here are a couple of pics of a mesh storage system I've installed in the ER for storing vests. The whole mesh bag can be easily taken off the plastic retainers. (You don't want to have anything in there which could get wrapped-in the engine belt or drive accessories when underway.)

I store the jackets in the little compartment behind the entry door as you walk in off the platform. I leave my tubes in the dock box and bring them when we think we will use them. The canvas we roll up in old sheets and put in the aft cabin.

Once I found where to look from a worker at Ace Hardware I have found them everywhere.

I was looking in the automotive section. Nope, wrong part of the store.

They are in the home section. Look for halogen desk lamps. Then look at the desk lamp halogen bulbs then look for your bulb. I bet the local Menards / Home Depot / Lowes have them.

Have you found the secret storage compartment in the mid birth?

We have a ski rack in the engine compartment. The table still fits.

WOW!!!! :wow: The funniest part about that "laundry list" of items is that the left side of my brain is saying "man does this guy leave anything home" and the right side of my brain is saying "yup, got that, got that, got that....and then some..:smt101" I guess I never really realized how much "stuff" we keep on board.

I forgot.......

- The small storage compartment in the cockpit by the swim platform has a second anchor, chain and rode. We also keep extra beverages stored here.
- The big stern locker has 2 fenders, 4 dock lines, a 30A shore power cord, wash bucket with various boat cleaning supplies and our grill. When we are gone from civilization we store bags of trash in the stern locker as needed. As the trash accumulates we may need to keep the fenders in the cockpit.
- Oh, we also keep a "hooker" onboard (what we call the boat hook / pike pole.) I rarely use it for docking if ever; normally I use the other attachments I have for it like the brush for washing the boat. We keep this in the cabin, next to the port table behind the long cushion. It just fits.

5 of us sleep onboard. Last summer we slept onboard 39 nights. Most overnights are away from the marina anchored or pulled onto a sandy beach on the Wolf River or at locations without power or other marina type amenities.

Holy C*%p! And I thought my wife held the award for creative storage. You truly are a master of putting two quarts in a 1 quart container!

Hey BEERMAN...
These are direct plug-in led replacements from superbright...
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=/other_bulbs.htm

For your swivel(reading?) lights... I like them. but they are
pricey!
$12.00----:wow:

Kevin -- did you replace all of your bulbs (cockpit and cabin) with LED's? If so, can you list the part numbers if you have them? I'm going to replace all of mine when I splash.

Also, did you replace the anchor light with an LED?

Thanks,

Rob

I just have to ask- Does anyone else with the Stock SR Flagpole have a problem with passengers using it for a handle or something to lean up against when boarding? I am considering relocating it to the other side of the transom because it is driving me crazy. Any others considered or done this?

We have the same problem. We don't put the flag up until the last person has boarded the boat or we have pulled out of the slip. To make matters worse, we had the marina cut a hole for the pole because the '03s didn't have one. Talk about the law of unintended consequences...

Sorry it took so long..life got ahold of me...

OK... ALL of these are from superbrightleds.com

These are the ones for the radar arch and transom storage. I got the 4210-hp6

I didn't do the bilge lights or the running or anchor or the ac/dc light over the stove and i forgot about that little one at the bottom of the stairs... when they burn out I intend to. What I've listed will give you a hundred bucksworth of lights though! Goodluck..
