Wiring for a 280DA and a few other Qs

First post here so I apologize if I'm in the wrong area.

First ...
I have a 89 28' Sundancer ... someone was kind enough to relieve me of my dash gauges and it looks like they tried to pull the gen out where they had cut several of the wires.
I have contacted SeaRay and was told to contact a dealer, called the dealer and was told they would have to contact SeaRay. :smt021
Finally got an email stating there is no wiring schematic for the 280DA.
This sounds amazingly thoughtless and unprofessional as I have never had a vessel I couldn't get some kind of wiring diagram for.
Is this true? no wiring diagram for the 89 28 SeaRay???

Second ...
What I ideally need is the wiring diagram for the perko switches that reside in the gen well ... all those lines were cut, including the wires that feed up into the little six breaker box there.
What I have is the twin engine 5.7 where 2 batteries are sitting next to the starboard engine and the other battery sits just aft of the gen. I know the aft switch was an on/off and the forward switch is a selector switch. I just want to be sure I reconnect all this correctly.:smt100

Third ... and probably the most puzzling for me.
The vent motor between the head and the mid cabin has given up the ghost. Problem is I cannot figure out how to get in to it to replace it. Have considered making an access panel from the mid cabin which wouldn't be to difficult. Pulling the cap to replace the motor would be insane. :smt101

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

One more thing ...
Where can I find an engine cover??? we were out on the water checking the bilge pumps in the engine compartment and dim wit (name in relation withheld to protect the feelings of the guilty) sat the cover on the swim platform ... it just vanished!!! and now rests somewhere outside of Ponce Inlet.

There were two but now just the one ... the one that got away will always be remembered ... it was always there when I needed it and never complained. I think of it often ... particularly when I have to leap over the gaping hole over the engines!:smt013

Debating whether to build a new set of engine covers out of deck planking and top it off with teak or something durable.

Thanks in advance all, Have a great day!!!

I am 6 ft, 195 lbs. My bud is smaller. She and I use the shower in the head and the shower on the swim platform regularly. Showering prevents the water from sitting in the tank too long.

The showers at some of the places we go are not as clean as what we have on the boat. Sometimes, we hook a hose up directly to the faucet on the dock. On days that are warm, we open the window in the head.

Welcome to the forum.

This thread is for the 2001 – 2009 280 Sundancer.

No where have I seen the years for this forum ... fact of the matter is ... the heading clearly states

Official 280 Sundancer Thread

not

Official 2001 - 2009 280 Sundancer Thread

No problem I'll not post here any more ... I wouldn't want to bring down your precious thread with my 1989 antique boat!!!

Thanks for the redirect though ... maybe I'll find a few more of your fans there.

Jeez, don't take it personal. The '01 - '09 is the same boat with very few changes between model years so the conversation here is common to that particular vintage. Nobody was kicking you out, just that the folks who frequent this thread are not as familiar with other model years.

After 6 months of looking, I finally have my 2005 280 Sundancer (picture coming). I sold my 01 245 weekender (an exceptional boat) in early January which gave me the motivation to put close to 2,000 miles on my car looking at different 280’s all over the southeast (seems no one had one in my city). I had my mind set on the 280 Sundancer since it appears to have the best of everything. It has a great layout, except for the cooler. Mine is a 2005 with twin 4.3’s/alpha one’s, gen, heat/air, Raymarine C70. I am totally overwhelmed by the stack of manuals and have much to learn. I was previously VolNavy37922 and everyone on here was very helpful in answering questions pertaining to possible boats. Now that I actually have one, I’m sure I’ll once again count on everyone’s vast knowledge of what I think is the most versatile boat – so thanks in advance. So far my project list is to replace all the batteries, since they appear to be the original ones if not the first batteries ever made. Then, I’ll tackle system by system to thoroughly understand their operation. Only after all of this, I’ll actually attempt to learn how to maneuver the twins – I was quite masterful at maneuvering the single.

Congrats! Glad everything worked out well for you. One piece of advice on the new batteries- spend the extra money and go with AGM Maintenance-Free batteries, you will be glad. In fact I have a set of DieHard Platinum Group 31 AGMs in my (very near) future. So long to the Lead Acid Batteries!

You will have no problems with the twins once you determine where the wheel needs to be to get the drives straight. I was anxious before I got in mine and a friend taught me on his 300DA the week before I took delivery of my 280. Now I can't imangine manuevering with a single! The hardest part is blocking the instinct to turn the wheel.

Congrats Voldad!!!! Love the 280 too. But I'm looking for a 290 AJ . Hope you have great time with the new ride. Let us know how the twin maneuvering goes. Twins is another aspect I'm excited about.

Enjoy!!!

GET THEM PiCS!!!!

Can anyone let me know what charger is standard on the 280? Mine appears to have been replaced, judging by the wiring harness slightly untaped. Judging by the LED indicators, it appears the replacement is never charging the 3rd battery. I am planning on replacing all 3 batts and would like to replace the charger too,

Thanks,
Mike

I have all my manuals in the boat...will be in there this weekend if someone else doesn't beat me to it I'll get it this weekend...

Mine is the Intelli-Power Marine converter/charger. Here's the website:

Here is a picture of the OEM setup on a 2002 single engine. This should be what you have.

I knew someone would beat me.. mine's the same as Turtles'

Has anyone found the light bulb for over the galley. Not the 12 volt one but the 110v bulb? Looking for a place online to order it. Mine never had it. Also looking for the bulbs for the swivel reading lights in the berths.

Hello my fellow 280 owners. As I’m new to the 280 and am in the nesting phase, where do you put your stuff on the 280. I know there are different preferences, but I’d like to know how everyone stores various items on the 280. Where is the best place to keep life jackets? Where is the best place to keep deflated floats? Where is the best place to keep the canvas during cruising? Also, I moved her into the slip tonight –this is going to take some practice, think I’ll take the day off work tomorrow and practice. Maiden voyage will be Saturday if the winds don’t pick up.
