A different take on the microwave ( I found one but its 1/2" too high). Has anyone taken the face frame off of the cabinet so they could more easily insert a microwave?

Mine is in line, but again, it's new to me as well. I don't know if the PO did any kind of cable alignment.Question for those with the 4.3 alpha set up. When reversing in my "new to me" 2004 280, the port drive takes more shifter travel to engage reverse. When I move both shifters together, the starboard will engage reverse first while the port will "skip" until given a touch more movement on the shifter (maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch). Based on what I've read, the symptoms seem to indicate that I need to adjust the shift cable on the port side to better match the starboard side. I'm curious if this is "normal behavior" or whether others are perfectly in-line between port and starboard shifters.

It's in the little compartment above the sink. Slide those doors open and it's screwed to the wall on the right side.Location of Glomax gain amplifier: Does anyone know where it's located on a 280 DA? I'm replacing the antenna which I got from Glomex (at no charge) and it has an automatic one (gain amplifier) so I have to replace it.
I believe it's intended to secure the center window if you have it open while under way.Can anyone tell me what the 'strap' on the portside forward deck is for?View attachment 51947
I always wanna know what is that for!!!! Problem is that I also have one of those straps on the starboard side as well. That can not be for secure the centre windshield!!! Any ideas?I believe it's intended to secure the center window if you have it open while under way.

This is certainly - a great thread for 'new to me' 280's. A few more questions:
The helm seat (which moves up and down) rocks a bit - it's almost like there is a missing spacer or bushing between the telescoping shaft and the base shaft. Does anyone know if that spacer exists.
The halon system (05 280) while in the green is close to the red mark. The surveyor pointed this out. I believe this is the 'original' halon system. As anyone updated or had the system refilled?
I had looked at a three 280's before I decided on this one. All of the had staining (rust?) in the main cabin adjacent to the fridge/head. Is this caused by a water leak from either?
Has anyone upgraded the original Raymarine radio (believe it's a #215) if so what did you put in its place. It looks to be a totally different shape than the newer radio - SH or ICOM out there.
I'm sure I'll have many more questions - especially on the operation of the boat - so thanks in advance everyone.
Could be to secure the VHF antenna when it's in the folded position.I always wanna know what is that for!!!! Problem is that I also have one of those straps on the starboard side as well. That can not be for secure the centre windshield!!! Any ideas?
So going through the survey today the guy found two water leaks in the 'aft cabin'. One adjacent to the forward bulkhead - but that one looks like a drain replacement. The second is along the starboard aft bulkhead and appears to be coming from the cockpit. The owner has agreed to have the dealer fix but curious if anyone else has had this problem and the source. Oh and this is on a 2005 280.
Has anyone recently replaced the microwave on their 280? I saw posts from several years ago about the topic but curious if anyone has done it recently and if so the brand and model would be appreciated.

Attached is the install manual for the unit which might be helpful. http://www.xantrex.com/documents/Ba...rge2 Install Guide (975-0402-01-01_Rev-B).pdfI'm having problems with my battery charger. Xantrex TrueCharge2 20a. Its not charging my batteries. When I looked, the wires from the charger are not going to the 3 batteries. Where are they going??? How do I troubleshoot this issue? Sorry if out of topic, but I could not find where to post this.
Did you check the battery terminals to ensure clean and tight connections? Looks like on the face of the unit you have corrosion so that might be the case at the leads or the battery terminals). I assume the batteries were good before you had this problem? The voltmeter is your friend, I put it on the battery with the charger being on. If you're getting juice at the battery then it could be the batteries. If not, either corrosion at the unit terminals or the charger is toast (if no fuse or breaker on unit). FYI if you're getting full voltage to the batteries with the unit on but the batteries did not charge - then the batteries are toast. Again the voltmeter is your friend it's the best $10-15. investment you can makeI took a picture of the unit. It is getting power. Not sure why the percentage of charge is so low if the batteries are weAK.
