Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

Thanks @mrsrobinson.

Not sure if folks have come up with an easier way to set up a closed flushing circuit but from what I’m seeing, the strainer and AC pump are all the way in the back of the engine compartment and the discharge line from the AC unit going overboard is on the port side perpendicular’ish to the AC unit.

I suppose I could try to disconnect the discharge hose from the AC unit and run a hose all the way back to the engine compartment but I’m not sure if the pump would support that.

I was thinking as a first try to get some cleaner in the system and let it sit to see the result, and if that didn’t fix my problem, rig up some sort of closed circuit.

Any and all input is appreciated!

Do the loop.

If you have concerns the water pump won't move the water through, pick up something like this, this is what I used and it worked well

FREESEA Fountain Submersible Water Pump: 800GPH 45W Adjustable Ultra Quiet Aquarium Pump with 3 Nozzles 10ft High Lift for Small Pond | Fish tank | Waterfall | Outdoor | Hydroponics https://a.co/d/9COafpa

Thanks! Ok so final question. Is it safe to run the descaling solution through the AC water pump as well? I.e hook up output line from the cleaning solution pump to the input line of the AC pump?

I don't see why not, but I'm not an expert on the product. I think you'll be okay as long as you do a freshwater flush immediately behind it.

Having the boat hauled to get some fiberglass work done. Does anyone know what the trailer bunk spacing should be with V Drives?

07 340 with soft top , has anybody remove this style top framing and everything that goes with it and changed it over to the standard canvas with the standard framing ,and changed the aft with the cantilever camper Canvas? if you did, what did you use to cover the holes that bolt the soft top framing to the arch
We don’t like the leather shoe string tiedowns for the Bimini/brows for the front and aft brow and don’t like the look ,only would change because the boat need complete canvas and izinglass

Hi All. I am looking to install a swivel on my port side single helm seat. Anyone already tackle this improvement and can offer any advice on hardware or lessons learned?

The Facebook Group "Sea Ray 340 Sundancer Club" has several posts on this modification. I did it last season and it's one of the best upgrades I've done. Search "swivel" on that group page and 3 or 4 guys did a nice job describing this mod that I followed which worked out very well for me.

Has anyone replaced their existing SC1000 Tachs on their 340, specifically SC1000, with the exact same NEW ONES? Wondering if the new ones will both need to be re-calibrated or will the existing engine info stay populated? ...fuel tank capacities, etc...like plug and play...TIA

Has anyone successfully buffed out scratches from their galley countertops and table? They look beat up and I’m wondering if they shine back up along with removing the scratches.

From my research about installing a new VesselView 7 to replace the SC5000, I think it’s plug and play especially if you are staying with same gauges. On my boat the data is fed to gauges from the SC5000 but I don’t have those SC1000 gauges.

We did the VV703 uprade along with a bunch of other upgrades 2 seasons ago. Removed all SmartCraft instruments. Installed NEMA2000 network, Took out stock speedometer and replaced with MFD20, removed SC5000 and installed VV703, Added Garmin AP, Added new VHF. All of these things were tied to the Network. I will say the VV was the most difficuot to get installed and programed. Certainly was not plug and play.

Thanks - just wondering if the software versions are different between the old and the new which I believe they are, and will this be an issue installing new factory SC1000 Tachs.

UPDATE - Installed both NEW SC 1000 factory Tachs. It was plug and play except for the Port gauge showing error Fault Pitot - I believe the Pitot is assigned to the Starboard engine so I will have to go into the calibration 2 setting of the Port gauge and disable. Will be sending the speedometer to Gauge Savers since I only really need the LCD readout (which is currently burned beyond readability).

MY gauges were analog only, not SC1000. We had the SC5000 component that we upgraded to the VV703. That was that part that was not plug n play. Good to hear your gauges went well.

I am looking at this same upgrade next season. Can you tell us more about your experience? I also have the analog gauges and a SC5000 in a 2003.5 with 8.1's in a V-Drive configuration. Thanks!

Bankyf- are you able to send me a direct message so I can reach out to you to get some pointed advice on removing the headliner on my 2006 sea ray 340? I’m having the same serious internal water leak coming from the loose rails of the sunpad above the galley.
I know this is an old post but my 340 has just incurred this problem. Any advice on removing the headliner?
