Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

Got it thanks!

next question...

where do you plug in the engine scanner tool? I just bought a scan tool and wondered where on the engine is the dongle you plug it into located? Is it capped or is plugged into something that needs to be unplugged?

I removed the radar from my 07's arch and now want to remove bracket (I have a bridge to deal with). Four bolts protrude up from the arch, any idea what I'll find when I remove the nuts and remove the bracket? And what about a cap for the opening, is there something standard? And what about the anchor light, looks like it's integral to the bracket.

04 340DA. After a rain storm I noticed water in the bilge but not in the part of the bilge where my pumps are. The boat is still on the hard so its not coming from being in the water. Any ideas?

I believe the outside areas drain forward then into the center. If you're blocked up the tilt is probably not allowing it to drain forward.

I need to remove the stairs to fix bottom stair weld. How do I remove headliner? In the area to get to the top attachment of the stairs?

I'm prepping to upgrade the original Clarion head unit to Fusion and I'd like to run a NMEA 2000 cable drop from the helm down to the area behind the electrical panel and radios. I've followed the cable bundles from the helm into the void area beside the helm station where they disappear though a bulkhead. Has anyone run a cable through there? Is the other side of that bulk accessible from inside the cabin?

Thanks!

I have run a few through there. Two choices...there should be some expanded foam around some of the existing cables...you can take a hard pointed thing to create a new hole. This can be difficult and risk nicking a cable. I have also take a 3/4" paddles bit and made a new hole about two inches above the existing bundle. Safer. It is accessible from inside the panel. I took a flashlight and shined it in to the hole from the helm side, helping to determine where the hole was from inside the cabinet.

Thanks for that, looks almost like they used some sort of silicone to seal in that bundle. I like your paddle bit idea, I'll move forward that way.

Hi Everyone,
New topic...
Best way to check the Heat Exchanger, Trans oil cooler and oil cooler to see if they need to be replaced ?
i.e. For heat exchanger, is it simply pulling the end caps and checking ?

I need to reseal one of the fixed round glass/windows on the deck, any tips how to remove the glass without damaging it and what kind of sealant is needed.
TIA.

I believe Sea Ray recommended not removing the skylight glass. I used some Boatlife life seal around the edges on ours.

Hımm thanks, so how to squeeze the sealant without messing through the not seen tiny gap that allows rain water ?

Fortunately, mine was not leaking yet but the original sealant around the edges was not in good shape. I cleaned off the old from around the skylights, wiped area down with alcohol, then applied new around the edges and smoothed with my finger.

Thanks again but I can't reach under the glass.
Let me add a photo to show you better.

Yet it is glued from outside.
This is the starboard skylight which is not leaking to show how it is seen.
Then the port one which is leaking and I taped it so stopped leaking.
And port from cabin.
