Just purchased a 2001 310 Sundancer. I have been chasing a battery issue with a dead cell, long story short i have learned a bit about my boat. What I won wis that the motors are not wired like I would have expected. I have three batteries two of which are wired in parallel to the port motor, this apparently includes the house battery. The other battery is wired to the starboard motor which has the alternator, this the is the only motor with an alternator.
Question:
Is this a usual configuration, I was expecting one set of batteries for the motors and the house battery to be isolated?
Is is common to only have one alternator?
Any thoughts why the stereo runs off the single battery with the alternator.
When turning on the "AC Convertor" this I am assuming is really the battery charger. Has anyone had issues with this not being able to keep up with DC power needs?
Thanks for your thoughts.
