Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

I asked a question a few days ago about a 1999 31 sundancer and I have got zero response on it. My thread icon is gray with a green , I think, arrow on it. Why is this ? What did I do wrong? This forum seems difficult to use. I have owned sea rays since 1972 and this is the first time I have had to reached out and ask some questions and I feel I am getting the cold shoulder on this, why?

Where did you post your question? I went back to early Feb. and I don't see it.

I was looking to see the bulbs in my cabin lighting for an LED upgrade. How do you open the AC/DC fixtures in the cabin? I was looking at the two over the Galley Table. I don't see any screws. Ideas?

It's under forum sport cruisers 24-36 ft, page 2 . Thanks. My question was about a 1999 310 sundancer I put an offer on and it was accepted. The survey will be Monday. The headliner is all wrinkled and moldy I believe from the windshield mounting screws. Can the screws be removed and caulked and re installed to stop the leak? I can replaced the headliner but I want to be sure that no more leaking will occur. Any help will be appreciated. Any other things I should look for?

yes they can but, it is not an easy job. Are you sure that it is leaking at the windshield?
I have heard more complaints about bow railings than windshields. I am sure if you search the site you will come up with many answers.
My boat is a 98 and I have not had many problems other than normal wear and tear.

RELAX........Re-post the question.......note: did you think maybe no one know the answer to your answer ?? Re-post again.......

You can seal the windshield screws as well as the bow rails, but I would be careful to how "wet" the front deck is. You will know if it feels soft or not, plus make sure your surveyor is familiar with Sea Rays from this time frame. If something has been allowing water intrusion for 16 years, it could have a problem. If you are replacing the headliner, this will allow you access into some hard to reach areas to inspect.

BTW, your original post was confusing, just ask in this forum for anything with this boat. Don't take it personal about delayed responses, being a boat owner little things can't stress you out.

tks for the info. we have been a Boats U S member for the towing insurance but not sure if i am current now.

have an idea if a person was to call, and they are slow, they would continue the offer any way. this is the third time for us to deal with Great Lakes and rate them well.

our new biminis are nice and came quickly. they are much tighter to install though. thinking they will stretch over time.

was considering replacing my cockpit cover.

the 310 is a wonderful boat for us but at 16 years old, is starting to take a bit more maintenance.

I had the boat surveyed and it turns out the whole front deck is soft due to water intrusion. Otherwise the boat is in good condition. The seller is willing to lower the price currently I offered 29,000 which he initially accepted with the understanding of a good survey. But I told the broker I didn't want a boat with that much work to be done on it. So I am still looking thanks for your input.

Has your 310 ever been on Lake Mead? Sarg still with you? Gary Owen -if that is you John-hope all is well-you selling the 310?

yes. we spent 3 months at lake mead marina. likely not selling. bought that for shari and i instead of a house boat. she doesn't want a house boat. i can't part with my 230, so were a 2 boat family. the b-3 and 454 in the 230 make it snappy and fun. its easy to move to.

sarge and mack are both still here. taking the 310 out of winter storage as we speak. have to pick up the gen set, its getting overhauled, in page.

going to spend 2 weeks there on powell. tempted to drop down to temple bar. if stay in az. wouldn't have to by another permit to travel to temple. the water might be warmer in the virgin basin. that would put us at temple last 2 weeks in april.

Hey all - been a while since I've been on here, but it's good to be back.

I'm having a lot of water collect in my aft cabin ('99 310DA). I say water, but really, the carpet is continuously damp. If I push your finger down on the carpet, you can also visually tell that it's soaked. I vacuum it up constantly, but it's almost every week it collects water. I assume it's rain water, because the boat doesn't leak anywhere else, so I'm guessing it comes in somewhere and slowly makes its way to the lowest point, which would be there, or the engine bilge.

Few questions

1) has anyone had this issue before?
2) where should I start looking for water?
3) my boat is covered and the helm and aft aren't wet after a storm
4) It produces condensation, mold, and mildew in the cabin and in the carpet, so it's causing more issues than just a wet floor.

I was thinking maybe the port holes, or something? I really have no idea where to start as that area of the aft is small and not a lot of places to trace from.

I had a similar problem. I was told by the Sea Ray Dealer to run Silicone round the rail stanchions/screws and the base of the windshield. The aft cabin is now dry.
I now have a leak in the head floor that I will be working on when the weather warms up.
