Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

Hi I have 2002 310 with 350 v drives, has anyone put 4 bladed props on their 310? I need new props and the prop shop recommended them.
Thanks for your help.

Sounds interesting.....As i remember back a while ago that very subject was brought up,
and what i remember i think..... was a longer time to get on plane or a fuel issue,
someone more knowledgeable will respond I'm sure.....

ILast season I had 4 bladed props installed. I love them. I have improved performance and handling.

Could you please post the details of the props? Thanks

Can anyone tell me how long of a finger pier I would need in order to be able to dock bow-in, and still be able to board where the step into the cockpit is located? I cannot get to my boat to measure, but am guessing well over 20 ft. Thanks.

Way i figure it, if the boat is as mine is 31 feet and the step in is measured from the swim platform edge to the opening or step in about 6-7 feet back , that would mean you would need at least 25 feet of finger length..........

Looking for information about the high water bilge pump. The wiring diagram indicates that there is a "high water alarm" on wire (320-16 brn) which then runs to the "control station ground bus" on wire (321-16-blk). This is shown on the DC Wiring Diagram (V-Drive Option) Pg 2 of 2. The fact that the alarm is indicated on that page on not in the "control station wiring" page is odd, and tells me that the buzzer may be located in the bilge. In addition, I am not sure if there is a high water alarm buzzer at all if there is no systems monitor, which I do not have. (Furthering the system monitor question, is the system monitor wiring harness installed in the boat even if the system monitor option was not selected?) In any event I am looking to find if there is a wire in the helm station that will be powered in the event that the high water pump is running.

Thanks in advance!

Answered my own questions! So, the (320-16 brn) is under the helm station, right behind the drop down door. I thought I was looking at a relay, however it is the buzzer. It's a Cole-Hersee 4099, and mine was not working. That wire is indeed powered when the high water bilge pump is running.

Talking about high water level alarms. Last year I had a broken hose which caught me by surprise there was water all over the place to a point were my engine shutdown. The 2000 31 DA was not equipped with an alarm for these situations. I now have two alarms in place -bought them on E bay there are many different types out on the market. Also added and additional 3600 GPM pump within the engine compartment. Guy's if you do not have a warning system - get one installed.
I was lucky to be able to safe by boat, I will say I was given a chance to get and do things right. Take my advice put in the high water level alarms. You will not regret it --- plus you'll sleep better.

They were a set of new 4 blade 16 x 14 1.5 bore #3cup

Could you please post some more details about the improvement you noticed with the 4 blade props? (Consumption, cruise/max speed, planing speed, etc)... Any figures are more than welcome! Thanks

Hey guys, furiously reading through the thousands of messages on this link, but a quick question...
Does the rear bench on the 310 fold down? The idea would be to make it like an open cockpit if/when fishing...

A question for you 310 owners;

What boat did you come from and do you feel like you took a big enough jump in size?

I am a family of 4 in a 290 right now. 10.5 beam by 31ish loa. We spend a lot of overnights on the boat. I really want some more room and a fixed berth up front would be extremely desirable. We have to convert the front berth to the table every morning. It's getting to be a pain.

The 310 would give me more space and a fixed berth but I'm worried it wouldn't be a big enough bite and I would immediately be wanting a 340. The problem is the well we are in. We love love love our spot and 310 is as big as I can go where I am.

Would you stay in your spot and jump to a 310 or move and get a 340?

Thanks in advance.

It would be nice to have access and actually see the 31's in and out. There is a big difference -you have noted some of them already. I recommend you actually find a few 31's (different years if possible ) to compare. You can find a broker in the area that can direct you to a few would be nice The jump to 34 in $ is really higher since they move towards diesel. There is also the option of the 33's which have a pretty nice inside setup. In my case I jumped from 26 to 31 big difference for us. Note! now the kids are gone and the boat seems bigger.

Also the 33's most of them are powered by 7.4L or 454. If fuel consumption is an issue the 31's with the 5.7L 300 hp and its space is a nice upgrade.

I'm interested in hearing opinions of the 1998 layout with the private mid cabin. I like the option to put the kids to bed and close the door. It also has a large table area for us all to eat together. I'm sure there are compromises in other areas and there must be a reason it was only offered for one year.
