Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

I'm interested in hearing opinions of the 1998 layout with the private mid cabin. I like the option to put the kids to bed and close the door. It also has a large table area for us all to eat together. I'm sure there are compromises in other areas and there must be a reason it was only offered for one year.

That is the exact reason why I bought the 1998 model year. I love the cabin so I waited until I found a 1998 in good shape. I wish I had a later model with the same cabin. I plan on keeping mine up because I like the separate doors to the head and shower.

I have a 98. I love the cabin layout. It took me awhile to find one in good shape. After owning for almost 7 years I am considering selling it and moving up.

Ok, so I have read every post on this page and searched the app.. I'm sure this has been answered but I can't find it... Where can I find a detailed tutorial or DIY (with photos or video) of replacing manifolds/ risers for a 5.7 Horizon.?

Thanks guys.

How usable is the bed up in the V berth on the 98 with the private mid cabin?

Very comfortable for us.

I'm trying to figure what the 98 Mid Cabin could look like:huh:

On our 2002 310 we have the mid berth, isn't that the same thing ?

We have the berth and closing curtain, would love to see a picture of this mid cabin on the 98...

The 98 has the head in the center of the cabin at the rear with a door on the starboard rear that leads to the mid cabin. It's a separate room as opposed to a small area with just a curtain.

Thanks for that.......very nice setup ......very nice.......

Well, I went and looked at the 310. This particular boat had a few more items that needed attention than I'm willing to deal with right now. I've spent a lot of time and money getting my 290DA to where I want it. I would be almost starting over. Mechanical and cosmetic issues...

The 310 itself is a marginal step up from where I am now. It would have to be a nearly lateral move from a maintenance and financial stand point for me to make the jump. I did like the layout. The front berth was usable, the table in the cabin was plenty for 4, the mid cabin was surprisingly spacious and the cockpit was a more comfortable size. The engine room was cavernous compared to my 290DA.

Nice boat, that was just the wrong example of this model to make this upgrade worth it to me.

I'll be keeping an eye to see what you end up in. Our 290 is plenty right now and I too have spent plenty of time and money getting it where I want her but of course I'm always thinking about the next step. I was thinking minimum 340 for a step up for us. Dock mate has an '06, much different animal than ours.

It would have to be pretty darn spotless and for the right price for me to take an incremental jump. I would love a 340 but it won't fit in my well. We are looking at other manufacturers and tossing around the idea of a fly bridge as well.

The 310 is nice, maybe not enough of an upgrade for me to justify the price though.

I went from a 1995 290 to a 2001 310 it was such a good move for my family of 3. We now have room for guest. The extra length and beam also make long trips more enjoyable. Good luck with your search magstang1.

Thanks Sal. I appreciate that.

Your 290 was the older style that had a foot less beam than I have now. I would be taking a slightly smaller step than you did.

I do like the 310 and it would fit our use better. I just need to find the right one.

What is the difference in "Mercruiser blue water inboard" versus the Mercruiser Horizon?
Edit; I know they are both FWC and it's basically a name change, but are there engineering differences? Is one a 1/2 closed system vs the other? Other differences?

Does anyone know the height clearance for the 2002 Sundancer 310? We are looking at moving the boat to Lake Norman in NC and I need to figure out if we can fit under the railroad bridge.

Thanks.

Craig

our 2000 takes 13 feet 6 inches.
i move it quite often.

will depend on the trailer you use for final hight.
