Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

My battery charger is dead, the original that came with the boat.

Which one do you recommend?

How many Amps are needed?

Thanks!

Anyone replace all of the gold / brass looking knobs/pulls and trim with more modern "chrome" or just pull out all of the cabinetry..LOL

My first post... I intend to purchase 1999 310 on Monday.. Probably will have lots of questions as newbie for you all.

Good Luck…..:smt001

Quick question for quick fix. I have a leaking shaft seal. Is there anything out there to somewhat correct the leak until I can take out the boat for bottom work? Some type of over the seal boot or sealing product. Any ideas!
It's not a big leak but I do want to control it. Vida.

I believe you should be able to adjust your shaft seals without taking your boat out.

My mechanic recently adjusted mine, but these were change two months ago while I was doing the bottom.

This is the third time that these are adjusted, somehow they seem to leak again.

If you ever have to replace the Mercruiser cool gas module on the bottom of the engine , just sell the boat or set it on fire. Five hours and I managed to get two nuts off today.

My friend, just did that job two weeks ago. I actually had to cut away a section of the base were the waste tank to get the darn it out. The time was right on the button, close to five hours blending, twisting and banging. You would think that something that requires service would be located somewhere accessible. Wait till it's time to change your raw water impellers. These are really a lot of fun. It's no wonder that marine mechanic want to charge you an arm, leg and part of your back for these tasks. These are great boats but they are a pain when it comes to items like these. I will say, hang in there! :smt017 :smt013

I got it out, rebuilt and back in. Sadly the motor will still not fire.

Back on the subject of the fuel pump though. I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to the new rail and I am getting a solid 30PSI that holds for a few minutes. The port engine takes several hits of the rocker to get that high and it doesn't hold. I see this job in my future on the port engine...

One important thing is to fill the module unit with gas. This can be done on the filter section. I had the same issue would not fire. After filling and a few turns it fired up. The PSI reading is there but it actually air. Hope this helps.

Any experience here with shoot thru hull transducer in our 310's?

My Lowrance 3500 display is dead and really need a depth finder right now.

Trying to avoid a transom mount unit.

Hey 340diesal. Some time back on a 26 chapparral I installed a bilge area transducer to avoid the through hull and transom installations. I contacted the manufactured which provided the required unit. The unit is epoxyed to the inside hull. Instructions provided the best location. I had no issue with it while I had the boat. This might be an option if Lowrance has this available.

I purchased a Lowrance Elite 5 and mounted the transducer inside the hull near the old transducer but not the thick area where the existing transducer was mounted. It functioned but the sensitivity was not the way the manufacture said it should be. The first time I epoxied the transducer to the hull. The second time I mounted the transducer in a Rubbermaid plastic container cut the bottom out and epoxied that to the inside hull. I then filled that with mineral oil and mounted the transducer to the side of this container shooting down. Still had the same performance. Once the boat was pulled last winter I reinstalled the transducer to the transom outside. Finally I was able to get the better clarity and sensitivity. I still don't like the way the fish show up as tiny specs. Like to see the arc, but this unit uses a different hz. Wish I had my old Humminbird fish finder that just showed a picture of the fish

Interesting, what is the mineral oil for? Is this to avoid the thickness of the epoxy? One thing the manufacture did explain some epoxy due contain some materials that can affect signals feedback I would thinks metals. They were specific on what epoxy to use. Hopefully others can post additional information on the subject.

Try yesterday to install my transducer inside the hull without any luck.

Got a Hawkeye D10D Depthfinder, reviews were ok online.

Everywhere place still don't get any reading, I was using vaseline on the transducer as the instructions recommend but nothing.

Also try the zip-lock bag full of water, nothing.

Do I need to sand down old paint from the bilge?

I've got issues with my CO2 monitor going off but a portable unit is reading okay. Does anyone know where the monitors are located? There's supposed to be one in each sleeping area but I can't find them.

I remember a while back i had the same question and was told by another 310 owner that the sea ray 310 manual has that info, unfortunately i don't have my manual…..i wish i had the answer for you……….

On the front v-berth starboard side, on the division panel that holds the curtain you'll find one and the other one is the aft cabin, starboard side also, that one is easy to find.

I recently change mine, let me know if you need further help.

I found that it wasn't worth replacing. I put in a battery operated one and disconnected the factory one since after calling Sea Ray and their advice was to replace it for $100+.
